Pocket Shrine® Gone into Production

Dear valued potential customers,

photoafter the success of our prototype, the Drooling-on-the-Go-with-Guy-of-Gisborne shrine, mass production has started. So much so, that we have run out of the basic material for the Pocket Shrine®. Luckily our component contractor was able to provide us with new supplies, so the production can continue.  A parcel reached the headquarters of RAPS (RA Pocket Shrine) Inc. this morning, including four mint tins. Our development team was particularly pleased by the fresh supplies of sustenance also included in the parcel. Thanks to supplier UtePirat who can look forward to receiving a Lucas North Pocket Shrine® soon.

An update from the production line: Yesterday saw the successful completion of number 4 of the Pocket Shrine® collection, John Standring edition. It is currently on its way to its destination. Last week number 3, a Lucas North edition, was despatched to the winner of the Pocket Shrine® raffle, Mezz in Australia.  And a few days ago number 2 of our strictly limited collection, was received by an as yet unnamed private collector in the United States. We are proud to present…

The John Porter Edition

What looks harmless on the outside unfolds its drooling potential on the inside:

A closer look reveals the full body-onslaught of the deadly, ovary-busting Porter devastation:

Not specifically ordered by the client, but we think our creative team got slightly carried away by the ubiquitous availability of naked torso imagery of John Porter. Extra care was taken with the 3D-aspects of the piece.

Unfortunately he lost a hand in the process, but even with a limb missing he is still “Team R for Romeo”, don’t you think?

The Pocket Shrine® looks good on its own or as part of a wider RAvotionalia collection.

    • 😀 This was only ever meant to be fun… And I don’t honestly want to “sell” these – it would feel extremely weird taking money for something like this. The previous receivers of the shrine either won it or did a “barter” with me in return, i.e. Ute Pirat kindly sourced the tins for me, and the Porter fan organised something else for me. Or I have to come up with more favours that people could do me 😀 – peanutbutter M&Ms from the US, Erdnussflips from Germany, a box of vruchten hagel from the Netherlands, or any kind of creative RA pressie… I’d love to do a shrine for all major chaRActers and maybe I’ll raffle them? Thornton is next, then there is Harry Kennedy, Ricky Deeming, Dr. Track, John Mulligan… Not sure about some of the unpopular guys (Paul, Lee, Percy) – would there be takers for *them*?

      • How many Erdnussflips would it cost to get a Porter shrine? You could send them in one package, saving porto costs.I know, I´m impertinent or outrageous or whatsoever…

        Like

        • Hehehehe, you’re pushing it ;-). No more Erdnussflips for the moment 😀 I am stuffed! Plus you’ve done enough! I’ll have a (creative) think about it and try and come up with something!

      • As you know (or maybe you dont) Alec Track is mine. So what can I barter. Alas I’m in the UK otherwise I’d send you a bunch of peanutbutter M and Ms. An RA Cushion? or pillow case?

        Like

        • Ooooh – a RA cushion? That sounds intriguing. Something soft to rest my head on after my creative endeavours? I think we might be on to something… Oh, and Alec Track is a good idea… E-mail me, Ladysableh 🙂

    • Poor Porter… the screen cap was just like that… I should’ve stuck something over it. I think that was the intention. I must have been momentarily distracted… hmph 😉

          • Phew!! You not only made me literally S C R E AM !! Thankfully my collegues weren’t within earshot, because I almost collapsed from my chair while panting a bit hysterically at this sight/ assault on my equlibrium. JP at the cross inside this little box/shrine. Still trying to regain a decent, somewhat cooler composure… You little minx… 😛 What is to do with this acute tachycardia??? At least I was in a shape to look up this term and I even found some other posh words (without having a single “posh” thought in my mind right now……you sure know what I’m talking about….!!!).

            • *giggles* Just thinking of you sitting in your office, heart-rate going up, hyperventilating :-D. Sorry… But your reaction makes me think that these Pocket Shrines should be an essential part of any emergency doctor’s kit. It could help safe lives – better than electric shocks? (Must include that in my new advertising material :-D)
Yeah, JP at the cross is a bit much, I admit. I just couldn’t not. Not sorry 😀

              • Ha!Ha! This is so NO not funny !! 😀 😀 😀 I’m especially enamored with that first picture, where his bare skin gleams and reflects the candle light and moreover “Die Diskokugel” gleams and sparkels enticingly (which is rather a weird coincidence!!????)

                Like

                • Oh wow – yes, Porter’s sweat is glistening in the candle light. That was totally coincidental – but whoa, that works. The disco ball sparkles really nicely in any light, though. The trouble with the tiny shrines is that I had to fix the ball at the side – unfortunately there is no way to let it dangle…

SNOW *eeeeeek* – I really, really pity you. I have finally come out of my SAD, and am surrounding myself with flowers from my garden. The sun has been shining beautifully the last few days – spring in Ireland can be really nice. Hope that snow is the last bit of winter in your parts, Tree!!!

  1. Fantastic! Oh, Porter……

Tell me what you would like from the Uk and it’s yours! Marmite? Bird’s custard powder? (What on earth are they, she says…!)

Thornton shrine… Oh yes, yes, yes… (Collapses in pool of dribble)

    Like

    • Hehe, Helen. I am familiar with both Marmite (yuk) and Custard powder (yum) – I only live across the sea from you in Ireland :-D. Trying to think now what Britain has to offer… can you get me a Richard Armitage *haha*… In case of unavailability of Armitage I take vegetable crisps. (I am going to be fatter than ever if this continues. I think I have to give up the barter idea… I think I better raffle off another shrine.)

      Like

      • I forgot you are only in Ireland! Vegetable crisps I can do! Any particular brand? The M&S ones are particularly delicious I reckon… 😉

        Like

        • Righty-oh, we’ll do that. Do you have those mint tins (like Fisherman’s Friends or Altoids, or the smaller ones as in the first pic above) in England? I can’t seem to get hold of them in Ireland (bloody backwater!!!). If you throw in a couple of those, the deal is done. I’ll have to do a couple of Thorntons before that… But I’ll get back to you when that’s done!
And otherwise no preference for brands – the cheapest will do (I remember buying some in Sainsbury’s in Northern Ireland. Yum!)

  3. Disco ball is a nice on the “master” shrine. (Did I miss that last time?) The Porter Shrine – I can only imagine the response should it end up in the wrong hands, if you know what I mean? How would you ever begin to explain the Porter on the St. Andrews?!? I actually have many entertaining thoughts on this. 😉

    Like

    • The fandom decided that a disco ball is not “optional” but a MUST – so it was on the Gisborne shrine, too. I had to stock up and buy them in bulk *ggg*. What does the St Andrews reference mean, Crystal? Totally unclued here 😦

      Like

      • The “X” cross that Porter is bound to is known as a St. Andrews Cross. Please do not ask me how I know that. 😉 But in case you weren’t already clued in, I do have a video that…um…highlights? (celebrates?) all that bondage he seems to get himself committed to in his roles. 😉 (Even Thorin manages to get shackled and caged.)

        Like

        • *duh* of course, I should’ve known that. (Dammit – I know the Scottish flag, of course, and the bloody cross is known as an Andreaskreuz in German. Really, sometimes I don’t see the wood for the trees…)
Video? Bondage? I probably *have* seen that, but I’m dying for a link right now for quick release of pent-up curiosity…

And post part 1 whenever 🙂

                    • Well, it circulated eventually, but there were no comments on it for nearly an hour – rare for any Richard posting. It is usually within seconds. I think the kink factor stunned the younger, that’s all.

                    • Bored? Impossible! But there is this – some overt discussions of sexuality are often skipped by them, because they just don’t know how to respond. So many of them with do something anonymously (like the Confessions.) Unless I have had too much wine, I have come to hold back comments any attempts to open discussions on sex and feelings in that area (where I thought they might benefit), at least on Tumblr. I remember being a teen, where my own thoughts on sex scared me. And the idea of talking about it with others scared me even more. Funny how I don’t really have that problem anymore? 😉

                      Like

                    • Well, I find tumblr rather resistant to discussion, anyway. It’s much more about the photos than anything discussion-worthy.
Coming from a culture where sex was discussed pretty openly, I never saw much of a difference in ages when it came to talking about sex. But I take your point. It definitely is dependent on the cultural background of the people. I am and always have been a rather open book, anyway, but now that I am not that young anymore, I indulge in the luxury of not caring that much about what other people think of me *ggg*…

I am totally happy for mezz to be the winner of your competition but envy me stands with gritted teeth and clenched fists for not getting my hands on a Ceebeebees shrine. I would happily provide you with all kinds of stuff you need to assemble them. On top I will put some Mozartkugeln. Deal? 🙂
During the last weeks I have spent some times pondering about having an own personal shrine – I was so much in need of one. But I went away from wanting a nice and sweet one. Something a bit more fervent would do be me a better service. Can I please have an Uthred shrine? *evilgrin

    Like

    • Mozartkugeln *rofl* (and never has *rofl* been so inappropriate ;-))
A Ceebeebies shrine – now there is a totally new thought!!! That is an idea (and a challenge) that should be rewarded with a shrine.
Not sure about an Uthred shrine? Who the hell is he??? Is that a “Lords of the North” character? How do you visualize a character that does not exist in visual form? So – we can do a deal for the Ceebeebies shrine, but Uthred is not a goer for me 😉

      Like

      • Uthred is the main character in Lords of the North. In my own personal paralleluniverse I imagine Peter Jackson to have heard Mr. Armitages reading of this audiobook and he saw Thorin Oakenshield brought to life – in a way he never imagined. After that there was no other actor who had been able to take over this part. Mr. A. himself mentioned how unlikely it is that a role like Thornton or North would have got him the role in TH. But Uthred is the spitting image of Thorin Oakenshield. Or the other way round.
Maybe something is (has gone) wrong with me me. I have always been one to have a strong connection and reaction to visual impact. But only after my listening to this audio book (and Clarissa – please don’t throw stones at me) I realised how sexy a voice can be and what kind of pictures it can put into my head. Only since then I am able to appreciate this kind of performance. And boy, I do appreciate and enjoy.

    • I personally need an explanation of the attraction of Erdnußflips generally and to Germans in particular. I just do. not. get. it.

      Like

      • Well, the attraction between Germans and Erdnussflips first of all is characterised by the fact that Erdnussflips only seem to be available in Germany… I could live on the damn things. In fact I did, when I was a student, living alone in a studio flat. I would lie on the couch, munching on my packet of flips and read a novel back to back. Great.

        • Ja!! Erdnussflips!! Lecker! I’m another one of those Germans who loves them, though I’m not that nuts (!) about Chips, as we Germans say when we talk about crisps. But I try to refrain this peanuty cravings and indulge me only a couple of times a year. Promised next time, S. a big packet of Erdnussflips (the organically grown ones, of course! ;-)) are a must…..

          • Yay!!! (I promise I will reign myself in and not open them in the theatre, should you also graciously invite me to a show again :-D)
I scoffed half a packet today. Yeeeeees, I gave up crisps and chocolate for Lent – but Erdnussflips are not crisps, sooooo…

            Like

            • Well done!! Never ever are crisps something like Erdnussflips, therefore no trouble with Lent. You must know that boys from “Intimate Stranger” have a new production premiered last Sunday. Even crispy without any munchies…..

              • It is no continuation, but there are similarities in the kind of approach to tell a story. Same director/choreographer as last time and yes, Tim Bergmann is on stage, as well as my dear darling Miguel, that extremely funny (small) guy/cleptomaniac from Spain and nearly all the others and 2 ladies in additon… Booking a flight with Armitage Airline to a springlike Southern Germany is always a good idea, only maybe not the next 1 1/2 weeks as I’m on my way to Berlin (again in such a short time!) and afterwards to Vienna. It would be überaus unlustig to miss your visit.

  7. Hi Guylty I have three vintage tins that could fit the bill not Altoids so not silver (does that matter?) but two are really lovely Allenburys pastilles boxes see photo.

The drawing pin tin might also be suitable the other two possibly not, but please advise. The Oxo tin is wonderful but isnt hinged. The other one is splendidly vintage but in very ropy condition.

And if you let me have your contact details I will get some vegetable crisps organised and make up a parcel… 😉

PS what colours do you wear? There is a reason for me asking this… 😉

    • OMG – just looked up Allenbury Pastilles – those tins are beautiful. If yours are really vintage, they’d be too good for me destroying them because I usually spray the tins with silver spray paint. But if you want, I can make one from your vintage tins and leave the outside untouched. If you have tins that are not valuable and old, and it would not be sacrilege to spray them, I’ll take them very happily. And yes, they need to be hinged so that they can act as a shrine that can be opened :-). (Can’t see a link to the drawing pin tins?)
You can e-mail me at guylty (at) photographer (dot) net and we can discuss addresses/particulars there 🙂 Oh, and I am like Mr A – I wear black all of the time. (I am lying, today I have put on a red dress – must be spring in the air… Or good mood thanks to all the attention I am getting here ;-)) And now I am really curious…
