RA Pocket Shrine 27/? – Pirate Guy

“Pirate Guuuuuuy…… I’m jealous….” she said. And “Damn, I’m like…. jealous!!!! He’s beautiful and he NEEDS to be in my bed… Guy is just…… oh la la BABY come to Mama!!!!” And “Isn’t he loooooooooooovely… isn’t he One. Der. Full!!! Lovely, as ever. Isn’t he preeeeeeeeeeeesciiiiiiiiiiiouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus…. I’ll stop now.” And there was more, an initial nsfw reaction on the very first RAPS, that sparked the idea in me to make a Pirate Guy for a very deserving, recipient. I think we can safely say that Zeesmuse is “openly Guy”. I think I may have told this story before, but I’ll tell it again because it is one of those fandom love stories that illustrate how this network of fans works and how it forges real connections.

It was my tumblr friend B. aka richardarmitageforever/mujertropical/mysortofbloke who initially pointed out Zeesmuse to me when we were talking about fan fiction. B. recommended a series of LotR fan fics to me. And even though I am not as big a fan of LotR as I am of TH, I decided to check them out. The Rohirric cycle was absolutely stunning. A relatable love story at the heart but with suspenseful plot, great characterisations and the right measure of sexiness thrown in. B. encouraged me to give feedback to Zee, and so I sent her a message of praise. At that time Zee had just discovered RA, was researching ogling him as Guy of Gisborne  and was just embarking on her Guy of Gisborne fan fic, Manna from Heaven. She sent me excerpts to look at (as a reward for my praise?), and I was immediately drawn to it. From this developed a collaboration in the sense that I am happily “gamma-ing” her Guy fan fic. My reward: I get to read the latest instalments of Manna before everyone else does. Perks of “being in there” 😀 Bonus: much personal exchange via e-mail, too.

So this the Pirate Guy I made for Zee, with a little bit of naughty bondage on the outside 😉

Guy RAPS (14 of 15)

Who doesn’t think of leather when Guy’s name is mentioned, right?

Guy RAPS (3 of 15)

And there we have Pirate Guy. Yes, it is a manip, but oh, it fits – the open, black poet’s shirt, the flying tresses, and the heaps of jewels, booty from his exploits… A fierce fighter.

Guy RAPS (4 of 15)

And yet also a deeply romantic man, introspection never far behind (I like to think). “Be with me, stay with me” is the Guy catch phrase from Manna, and if the RAPS is meant to hit the feels, then this little personalised quote was unavoidable.

Guy RAPS (10 of 15)

As we know Guy looks *especially* good in candle light, so there we are.

Fan fiction is an essential part of fandom, these days. Writers spend so much time working on their fictions, channelling their creativity and talents into stories for the entertainment and pleasure of others. We get to read them for free, whiling away many an hour in the fantasy lands created by others who claim no other reward than a like or a comment. Representative for all those generous fan fic writers out there who delight us daily with their creations, I’d like to thank Zee with the shrine that I made for her. (Incidentally, it has arrived at a good appropriate time as she is currently worrying about her parents who got caught up in a nasty car accident. Go, give her some love ❤ ) Thank you, Zee, for the care and time you invest in your fan fiction. I enjoy reading them so much, they never fail to hit the feels, they are well-written, always original, and positively addictive. I can’t wait to read more!!!

    • You’re welcome. And I hope the shrine releases its magical charm for you today 🙂 Great to hear that your mum is finally seeing sense. Really, it was quite irresponsible of her to refuse seeing a doctor…
Anyhow, ch 28 *guilty conscience* Truth is I am just on my way out, too, fundraising stuff, and won’t be back until mid-evening, so I won’t have any pointers for you yet. Thing is, there are no pointers needed. All good as is. I’ll try to feed back asap, this eve, if still wanted.

I personally respond at FFnet, Watty, and DF, should be better about responding at Ao3… Thank you. I just feel sooooo blessed. Right now, he is opened up next to my laptop. That’s where he belongs!

    • I like how you put that, Kel – “a heart that he only lets us see”. I like to think so, too!
And yes, please do comment on Manna. I am sure it’ll be much appreciated!!! Even though it is quite a compliment that you are getting caught up in it to forget all other things 🙂

    • *hehehe*, yes, those exclamations bear Zee’s trademark. Plus – Guy. Dead give away for Zee *ggg*. Glad you have given Manna a try. It really is great, isn’t it. And lucky you, Dede – you get to read 27 chapters in one go. I have to wait for every chapter as a single instalment… (Note to Zee: I know, I know, I know… I will :-D)

  6. What treasures lie behind the buckle? Jewels, booty,a yummy pirate, what more could a girl ask for? A lovely shrine for a lovely author.

    • Treasures behind the buckle. *giggles very immaturely* But such is the power of Guy that we only need to see a leather buckle and we dream… Agree on your last sentence!!

  7. What a great shrine! Love that belt buckle and the Stevie Wonder riff too. Since my husband proclaimed himself a lesbian years ago, I think it is now safe to reveal that I too am “openly Guy” and thanks to you Guylty, I’m no longer ashamed to admit it. Best thoughts for your parents recovery Zeemuse. New on my ‘to do’ list: read Zee’s Manna from Heaven. And it is a Guy story, oh boy! 😀

    • You won’t regret reading Manna, Mimi. It is really well-written. Mind you, it does have sexy parts 😀 (Well, it’s a story about Guy, so that goes without saying…) Welcome to the “openly Guy” club 😉 And: no shame in being a fan. Means we are alive, interested, open-minded, enthusiastic, communicative…

    • I have to say that I am regularly amazed by the quality of writing I find in fan fiction pieces. Of course it is not highly philosophical and only rarely intellectual, but the good fanfic authors can well match the story-telling skills of many printed and well-known bestseller authors. They deserve more attention, and I often wish that they would be snapped up by a publishing house and get properly remunerated for their efforts.

      • I think it’s often more philosophical / intellectual than most people give it credit for being — in any case, it often says things that are true.

  8. A second Pirate Guy on his way (His brother is on the Rock). I am very happy for Zeesmuse. I don’t know Manna stories but I will start to read them. A very big thinking for her parents. Hope everything wil have a happy end.
What Guylty ? leather belt and bondage. You are surfing on the naughty side of RA fans. LOL.
The result is spectacular anyway. Sure I would like to “rester à ses côtés” for ever.

    • Hehe, the Pirate Twins. A European version and an American version.
Have a look at Manna, I recommend it. Warning, it is not without sexy bits, but there is story and plot, so it *is* a work of fiction in its own right!
And yes, wouldn’t we all like to rest in his arms? Zee puts the fantasy into words…

  11. I love it. Pirate anything for me, but especially Pirate Guy…which is very easy to imagine. Likely Richard will never play a Pirate, because Guy is so close in character…but I really, really hope I am wrong.
