Armitage Weekly Round-up – tumblr edition #31

Crikey! *That* went spectacularly wrong. *oooooops* With yesterday’s festivities on Armitage-Day and the mayhem caused by you-know-who’s surprising emergence on Twitter, I totally forgot that I had my customary round-up scheduled – but unfinished. I usually collect the links as I go along, but this week I had been busy. Plus, the Richard Armitage tag on tumblr is currently a bit of a war zone. Do not go in unarmed. Or wear blinkers like I do. I pass by the speculation, the triumphant self-congratulation, the APM and the inter-fan sniping like John Porter in his camouflaged best, honing in like a heat-seeking missile on the fun and the weird, the artful and the honest. Everything else is small beer, if you ask me. And not worth my breath. Tough titties. Or just look at the links that I am presenting. Now in the proper version…

Oh goodness me – the coming week will be an onslaught of Twitter-related stuff, I imagine. Man, from zero to 100 in no time. No wonder I was completely stunned into inaction last night. Well, I’ll finish this with my own badly rhymed birthday deliberations for RA. Perry had asked for it on ArmitageAgonistes.

What can I say,
that I wish RA on this day?
Continued success,
and much much less stress?
Chocolate ice cream and stilton cheese,
the occasional pinot noir, thank you and please?

No, that would be far too mundane
His birthday demands wishes less lame.
Fulfilment and happiness my arse
Mulligan and Lucas wish for racy fast cars,
or if RA is like a medieval Guy
he wants leather jackets in unlimited supply.

John Thornton wants same for deliveries of cotton,
while John Standring would prefer same in shape of mutton.
Porter meanwhile prefers snazzy tech gadgets
while gems and gold work for Thorin the midget.
My mind swirls, as I quickly mull o’er
what to get for straight-laced Gary Fuller.

The characters really don’t give a clue
The man remains a mystery to me and you.
So what’s Guylty’s birthday wish for RA?
Just stay the same, whatever you are.

    • Aber bitte gerne. Diese Woche habe ich es ja leicht versaut, weil ich gestern abend angesichts der Twitter-Sensation überhaupt nicht mehr in der Lage war geschweige denn daran gedacht habe, den Beitrag fertigzustellen. Upsi.

        • Ja, das hast du eiskalt erkannt. Arkenstone war nach Fandom-Querelen ausgestiegen, und Agzy macht derzeit ebenfalls Urlaub vom Bloggen. Da war es nur noch eine. Und ich bin ja so ein sturer Terrier – wenn ich was anfange, dann mache ich es auch zu Ende, und wenn ich dran zugrunde gehe… Lässt sich auch auf das Fan-Sein anwenden. 😀 Armitage bis in die Rente. Und wenn ihn *dann* keiner mehr sehen will, schlage ich zu. 😀

              • Twitterei? Komm, immerhin weißt du inzwischen, dass die Besorgnis der Fans dem Schreihals links (oder seinem Schreiber) offenbar nicht völlig entgangen ist … Und Knüttelreime schafft man(n) auch.

                • Da haste recht. Ich könnte ja Twitter auch völlig abschalten und nur darauf warten, dass mir der Salat auf dem Blog präsentiert wird. Kommt ja sowieso jeden Tag.

              • Mich plagt die Neugier, was bei ihm zum Verfolgen markiert ist, und das kann ich ohne Account halt nicht sehen.
                Alles andere, was ich mitkriegen könnte, erfahre ich früh genug – oder es ist so unwichtig, dass es untergeht. So oder so habe ich nichts verloren.

              • Neulich im Gespräch merkte ich — Twitter ist gut für schnelle Nachrichten (wenn sie einem wichtig sind), und für das Weitergeben vom eigenem Zeug — aber die Gespräche, die ich dort lese, stören mich noch mehr als gewisse Gespräche auf tumblr. Gesprächstechnisch ist mir Twitter nie die Quelle von Aufklärung oder Erbauung gewesen — immer nur ärger. Ich lese das aus Neugier aber es läßt mich mit guten Gefühlen.

                • Ich finde, du hast das ziemlich treffend beschrieben. Genau so geht mir das da auch. Ich habe mich jetzt entschieden, das erstmal zu ignorieren, genauso wie sonst auch. Ich hab sowieso schon zu wenig Zeit…

                  • ich finde, die “Platzprobleme” und die Mißverständnis-probleme sind vereinigt. Weil man sich so kurz fassen muß, ist es eher wahrscheinlich, daß man Umgangsspräche benutzt, die dann wieder leicht zu schlechten Gefühlen führt. Wenn jemand benutzt einen Begriff, den ich für unhöflich halte, neige ich weniger dazu, den Inhalt zu rezipieren, als mich über die Schreibweise zu ärgern.

              • Richtig, Serv, es spielt keine Rolle, ob ich das neueste Gerücht “jetzt” erfahre oder in ein paar Stunden.

                Und Gespräche per Twitter? Dazu sind die Nachrichten zu kurz, denke ich. Da gibt es bessere Wege.

                • Habe mir auch aus blosser Neugierde vor einer Weile mal einen twitteraccount zugelegt, weil bei uns in der Zeitung einige accounts vorgestellt wurden ( und prompt jetzt den ersten follower geschossen 🙂 ). Aber ganz ehrlich, das ist mir persönlich alles etwas zuuuu kurzgefasst.

              • *gg* Serv, englische Verben + deutsche Grammatik = fürchterliches Ergebnis. Das führt dann zu Streitigkeiten, ob es “ge-downloaded” heißt – oder doch “downgeloaded” …?

                • nicht wahr? wiederlich, eigentlich. Ich bin an sich kein Sprachsnob, aber auf Deutsch schon. Die Mutter meines Exs war Gymnasiallehrerin für Deutsch und ev. Religion. Sie hat mir Standards gegeben!

                    • Was mich immer tröstet — wenn man Mann (z.B. Buddenbrooks) liest, gibt es soviele französische Ausdrücke, die keiner mehr kennt, also geht es um was auch immer gerade stil war / ist. Nach einem Jahrhundert hat man dann Wörter wie Balkon, etc., die völlig eingedeutscht sind. Das mit dem Denglisch ist dann irgendwann weg.

                    • Klar, in 100 Jahren hat sich das alles nivelliert. Da wird dann vollkommen schamfrei grammatikalisch gerebloggt (oder gereblogged?) gelikt/geliked und gebrainstormt. So Worte wie z. B. Trottoir (Bürgersteig) verwendet keiner mehr. Französisch ist derzeit nicht mehr so en vogue 😀 Aber ich finde es schön, wenn man manchmal einige der alten Begriffe rauskramen kann. Da war die ansatzweise humanistische ( humoristische?) Schulbildung nicht komplett für’n A……

              • Ich fürchte, ich bin (oft) ein Sprachsnob, aber leider keiner, der für alles eine Lösung hat: Statt “download” könnte man problemlos “herunterladen” sagen, aber bei “reblog” wird es schon schwieriger, weil “bloggen” (ja, genau) ja selbst schon ein Wort ist, für das es keine deutsche Entsprechung gibt. Und dein (logisch einwandfreies) “wiederbloggen” würde dann zur Frage führen: gewiederbloggt oder wiedergebloggt? *g*

          • Querelen? Hm, wieder einmal was, das an mir vorbeigegangen ist. Und bei Agzy scheint (derzeit?) das RL mehr Gewicht zu haben als RA.
            Aber das ist normal, Fan ist man selten lebenslänglich.

            Armitage bis zur Rente … Hm. Wieso denke ich jetzt an Jopi Heesters (oder wie der hieß)?

  8. Apparently I use Tumblr in a way that makes me loose all the ****fun**** 😀 😀 😀 Never click on the hashtag, I just follow a few but very good blogs 😀

    And moreover, there’s always your round-up to see the beautiful things that I eventually miss.

    • I know, tumblr can be “dangerous”. There are add-ons you can use if you want to exclude particular topics from your stream. “Xkit” is one.

      • i’ve seen the bday posts, but that’s only because i was back on tumblr for 1.5 days to celebrate richard’s bday, hehe. im technically away from tumblr again starting today, so from now on your your weekly round-ups will be a life saver! i hate missing out, but i gotta do what i gotta do to at least attempt at not screwing up my own life, right? haha. and the funny thing is, even when i literally lived on tumblr, i still missed some things. my point is… your weekly round-up is always a delight. Thank you 🙂

  10. Woa ! Guylty what a beautiful poem. Unfortunately I am not able to even write two nice sentences therefore a poem is just out of my mind. Lol. I love really love # ix : When he is waiting for her to say : “yes ridiculous indeed” and instead she says the contrary. His face at this moment : so funny. He must be thinking : “WTF” but too polite to say it.
