Just back from a night of German stand-up comedy. No, not a contradiction in terms – it was actually very funny! And without further ado, here is the winner of the first Daniel Miller/Berlin Station shrine:

  5. Congrats Lady Clorinda! I still get a thrill knowing that I too am an RAPS owner! It’s a great club to be a part of!
    And Kathy Jones – once again your poetry tickles my funny bone! Haha! But I still haven’t recovered from what they did to Lucas 😦 I try to convince myself that the “other guy” never existed (in spite of Richard’s incredible acting!) I can’t get over how the writers were somehow able to ignore many of the story lines in Series 7 & 8. They couldn’t even put his tattoo in the right place, for goodness sake!!

    • Hehe, the RAPS owners club… An international elite 😉 I think I have lost track where they have all gone. I really should’ve kept an Excel sheet and noted where and to whom they went.
      I am with you on the whole character assassination of Lucas. The story never added up; there were so many plot holes in it. It reminded me of the whole Bobby Ewing cop-out…

  7. Congratulations to Clorinda, you are a lucky one.
    Und mit “character assassination of Lucas” hast du vollkommen recht, Guylty.
    Ich schau mir das gerade häppchenweise an und es ist kaum auszuhalten.
    Hoffentlich, hoffentlich muss Daniel dieses elende Schicksal nicht teilen. Auf der Seite der einigermaßen Guten (total vielschichtig natürlich) und am Ende lebendig, das wäre schöööön.
    Da lob ich mir doch meinen heißgeliebten John Thornton. Manchmal ist er halt etwas brummelig und die gute Laune ist kein Dauergast, aber er ist durch und durch ein Ehrenmann (vielschichtig hin oder her).

    • Ich sage dir, es war ein einziges Grauen, diese 9. Staffel von Spooks. Die einzig erträgliche Folge, war die erste. Obwohl es da ja dann schon losgeht mit der Unterminierung des Lucas N. Witzigerweise ist übrigens Spooks 9×6 die Folge gewesen, in der ich RA wiederentdeckt habe. Hatte da zufällig reingeschaltet, spät nachts, und blieb an dem mysteriösen, tollen Mann hängen. Ohne natürlich zu ahnen, was da vorgeht. Hab ich erst später alles gerafft – und getrauert.
      Thornton ist da verlässlicher. Und stirbt auch nicht.

      • Dass RA schön sterben kann, hat er nun ja schon mehrfach gezeigt und es wäre diesmal nun wirklich nicht nötig. Aber in seinen Beruf ist man halt dem Drehbuch gnadenlos ausgeliefert und bei Serien kannst du (oft) nicht wissen, wo das noch hinführen wird. (In diesem langen Interview über Spooks 9 stellen es die Verantwortlichen dann so hin, als wäre diese inhaltliche Rolle rückwärts wahnsinnig gut durchdacht und der arme Richard muss gute Mine zum bösen Spiel machen.)
        Bin übrigens überrascht, dass Urban Priol auch im englischsprachigen Raum auftritt (auf Deutsch?)… oder warst du kurz hier zu Besuch und ich habe es nur nicht mitbekommen??? Ich mag ihn sehr gerne, auch wenn ich nicht immer seiner Meinung bin und finde seine Vorträge sehr treffend. Manchmal bleibt einem das Lachen wirklich im Halse stecken.

        • Ja, die Drehbuchschreiber haben da wirklich alle Register gezogen, um im Nachhinein Lucas Norths Charakter komplett zu zerstören. Ich versteh ja, dass eine Thriller-Serie immer irgendwelche Finten und Wendungen braucht, aber diese war nun wirklich so komplett aus der Luft gegriffen. Das haben die sich doch erst in der Drehpause zwischen Staffel 8 und 9 ausgedacht. Kann mir keiner sagen, dass sie den Charakter von Staffel 7 an so angelegt hatten. Dazu gab es wirklich zu viele Unstimmigkeiten. Aber du hast Recht, der Schauspieler selbst kann da leider nur noch die gute Miene machen… (obwohl ich eine gute Mine – mit viel TNT drin – noch besser gefunden hätte 😉 )
          Der Urban Priol war von der dt. Botschaft und der dt.-irischen Handelskammer eingeladen worden, hier aufzutreten. Der Abend war also wirklich für die deutschen Ex-Pats gedacht, die sich dort dementsprechend in Scharen tummelten. Das Programm war auf Deutsch, aber Mr Guylty war dabei und hat nicht nur die Satire verstanden, sondern sogar für gut befunden ;-). Ich war insgesamt sehr positiv überrascht. Ich kannte Prior von mehreren Auftritten in Würzburg und Aschaffenburg vor so etwa 20 Jahren. Damals fand ich ihn eher mäßig – gestern Abend war er wirklich klasse, es wurde viel gelacht.

  11. Congratulations to Lady Clorinda. Maybe I will be the lucky one next time (pardon the sound of gnashing teeth).
    On another note, another wonderful Jonesian Ode to His Royal Hotness, but I’m confused. What tragic end could she be referring to? We all know that Season 9 was a poorly written abomination of a plot about a John Bateman that never actually happened. It was really all a clever coverup with Lucas North slipping away to work as a deep cover agent named Daniel Miller.
