Invoices have been sent, the Kindle is loaded, the flights have been checked-in. Only one thing remains before I go on my holiday tomorrow: One little parting gift in the shape of a RAPS reveal. That’s if a RAPS post can be considered a gift. This RAPS was a quick shot from the hip, a gift for a friend who is associated with the heartland of classical Europe, and the cradle of civilisation. That already set the scene for the customary photo shoot of the finished pocket shrine.
If you are on Twitter, you may have already seen this picture. Yes, I was teasing back then. I love those little “blink” mint tins – they are a lovely, compact size, and they have nice designs outside without plastering the logo all over the place. This tin was sent to me from Finland, btw…
So what happens inside?
Porter again. Our dear recipient – can you guess who? – is a big fan of Porter, and has written a multi-chapter fan fic on our favourite hero. Recommended reading HERE – and wouldn’t you know it, it takes us to ancient Greece… In my pocket fiction, Porter is carrying a handbag – and showing the way to Greece… He is assisted by:
Mr Ready. He is your guide. (Not sure where Mrs Waiting is…) I wasn’t really sure whether Obscura wanted to have the “your guide is” sign in the RAPS, so I included a sparkly heart which she can hide the sign under, like this:
No candle slots for this pocket shrine – I just can’t destroy the nice, tidy tins with holes for candles.
In any case, I hope Porter as a tour guide is a pleasant idea. Who knows how far his services extend? Hot holiday romance, anyone? I wouldn’t say no to that…
Mind you, I doubt my impending holiday includes one such. I am heading to a lovely island off the Croatian coast on Thursday. I will be accompanied by my kids and my mother. Sorry Porter, I’d love to, but I can’t… Two whole weeks on the Adriatic. Swimming every day. Sunshine guarantee. I don’t mind 30+ degrees – I crave the Vitamin D, as well as the meals outside on the terrace, the tan, the excuse to have ice cream and the trips around the island.
According to my information, I will have wifi in the holiday flat. Tbh, I am banking on that, because I have told my clients that I am available for some work while I am on holidays. It’s actually a bit of an excuse I am manufacturing because I might need a reason to get out of my mother’s hair (or get her out of mine…). So hopefully I will be able to keep up with the fandom activities while I am away. I will probably have to skip my weekly tumblr round-ups, though…
In any case, hope this little summer RAPS will tide us over the next couple of weeks. I’ll be back on home soil on the 14th of July, and back in Ireland on the 19th.

Also, meine ganz eigene Intention und Interpretation des Szenarios geht völlig respektlos in Richtung Variante 1. Einfach nur, weil Porter so gänzlich unfeminin ist und man ihm so gar nicht unterstellen kann, dass er ein Handtaschenträger ist. Höchstens für seine Gattin. Aber ich fand eben trotzdem witziger, mir diesen “Alpha Male” mit einer Man Bag vorzustellen *kicher*.
Danke für die guten Wünsche – ich kann sie gebrauchen, denn mit Mama und mir ist es ja nicht ganz so easy… Je mehr ich mich aus den Ferien melden, desto sicherer kannst du dann sein, dass es schwierig ist *grins*

Es ist nicht immer ganz einfach mit den Mamas. Ich fahre am besten, wenn ich die Meine nehme wie sie ist und ihr Verhalten grundsätzlich erst mal nicht als Angriff auf mich werte (weil es meistens auch so nicht gemeint ist). Das klappt bei uns meist gut, auch, weil sie Ehrlichkeit ganz gut verträgt. Wenn wir wirklich ein Problem haben, wird es kurz heftig und dann erinnern wir uns daran, dass wir uns eigentlich sehr lieb haben.
Vielleicht findet ihr beiden in den zwei Wochen einen gangbaren Weg – eine schöne (neutrale!) Umgebung und Sonnenschein könnten hilfreich sein.

LOL, danke für den Lacher am Morgen. Genau! Ein Workshop. Gerade er als Schauspieler hat da doch einige Techniken drauf, die sich auch im persönlichen Bereich anwenden lassen. Und vielleicht ist ihm die Problematik aus eigener Vater-Sohn-Beziehung bekannt? Aber Scherz beiseite – guter Punkt, Empathie. Ich schreib’s mir hinter die Ohren :-)!
