Is a cake an appropriate present for a man who a) is a sporting ace and b) works in an industry where looks are all and cake is evil? Well, it’s only a virtual cake, but I did bake this with *you* in my mind, Richard. And as a special present for you, I have eaten it myself:
It is a vegan red wine chocolate cake. Sounds like a contradiction in terms, but I thought this was right up your street. Ok, I baked it because I had to find a way to use up left-over wine, but boy, this cake really has your name on it. I think I will christen it the Armitage cake!
And is there a better thing to associate someone with than something that is sweet, yet has bite, comes with deep, rich flavour, yet melts smoothly on the tongue, is pleasantly rounded, yet has some surprising contents, and is delicious in every way? I hope it’s not too sickly sweet when I say that I associate those attributes with you. You have shown much sweetness in your interaction with fans and with your humble demeanour in a cut-throat industry, yet your recent Twitter communications have had bite. You come with a deep, rich voice that is like melting chocolate for the ears, and you have well-rounded talents that you continue to display in surprising ways. You are – forgive me for being so forward – delicious to listen to, to read, and to look at. And unlike my Armitage cake, *you* will never run out. Wishing you continued success with your career, roles that challenge and fulfil you, encounters that enrich you, and the confidence to be yourself. Much love, ❤ Guylty
PS: Here’s the real birthday present for you: Your fans have as of now managed to bid and donate so much for the Birthday Auctions that we can sponsor FIVE shelter kits for Syrian families. Thanks for bringing us together and inspiring us to take action for those who need our consideration.
Wow, I think I’ll have to look up this “vegan red wine chocolate cake.” Sounds like everything I love in a cake. And it is no coincidence that the same qualities go to make a very delectable Man. Kudos on the successful auction!!

I’ll send the recipe to you – this is one of the easiest cakes I have ever baked! And it is really delicious, best eaten warm with a generous dollop of vanilla ice-cream and/or some stewed red berries. Sinful!

May I request the recipe too – even though I’m not even close to being vegan? I do, however love red wine!! 🙂 Thank you! And I do so love and agree with your purple/pink sentiments! 😉

Congratulations on your successful fund raiser. The cake looks and sounds devine, definately worthy of the man who shares those qualities with it. I made peach cobbler in his honor yesterday, but it can’t hold a birthday candle to your cake.

Muse by Starlight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pgum6OT_VH8
Lyrics
Far away
The ship is taking me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die
The starlight
I will be chasing a starlight
Until the end of my life
I don’t know if it’s worth it anymore
Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
My life
You electrify my life
Let’s conspire to ignite
All the souls that would die just to feel alive
Now I’ll never let you go
If you promised not to fade away
Never fade away
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
Far away
The ship is taking me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die
And I’ll never let you go
If you promise not to fade away
Never fade away
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
I just wanted to hold

And can i saw how lovely of ‘our’ times this gesture of dedicating a song is? sniifff, where’s the bloody hankie?

I noticed that. But tbh I do not think there is any hidden message here. That thing was on his Spotify, and he clicked “share”. While I really like Muse (soundtrack to several holidays; “Supermassive black hole” an eternal favourite), I am not sure how applicable the lyrics are as a reply to birthday wishes. I mean, I’d like to think that was a conscious decision, but when I look at those lyrics, I wonder…

Compare to the time early on when he posted a sort of melancholy Keane song — when fans expressed concern, he said that “just liked the song really.”

I immediately thought of you when I saw the song choice, Esther. Good choice – heavy rocking. I put it on immediately, on full volume.

Da hat er einen tollen Song ausgesucht. Tiefgründig wie er es mag.
Fällt mir spontan die Antwort von meiner/unserer Seite aus ein? 😉 Auch Muse…
“You will be
The death of me
Yeah, you will be
The death of me …
I wanted freedom
But I’m restricted
I tried to give you up
But I’m addicted…”

Danke für Deine multiplen Aktivitäten, Guylty! Hut ab!

One of the sweetest post ever! I will ask you the recipe, I cook vegan almost half of the year, when we fast. He “killed” me today with his tweets: “You electrify my life” and so .. “delicious to listen to, to read, and to look at” this can be his definition, maybe not always, but now for sure.

Very sweet – and I am usually not what is considered sweet, I think. But well, sometimes emotions overcome me… 🙂
And I will gladly send you that recipe. It’s very easy and I thought it was fantastic. Ha! Maybe I should write an “Armitage Cake” post for all to see 😉
Hehe, “electrify my life” – he was quoting *us*!!!

Hehehehe, ja, I was rather surprised, too. I’m not a vegan *at all*, but this recipe ticked all my boxes – or rather: had all the ingredients at the ready. It’s really good, and you don’t taste that it is vegan at all…

I hope that you do post the recipe for this cake because it has my name all over it. Dairy and I are not friends no more and I need to limit it to once and a while. I have found cakes from the 30’s and 40’s with no dairy or eggs as they where hard to come by. I like that they still had cake without those food stuffs. I have made a few of them and where it seems that we need them we don’t a can still make a great cake.

That’s what I like about vegan food, too. I am limiting my intake of dairy products, even though I am not dairy-intolerant, and thanks to the vegan fad, there is now plenty of alternatives out there.
Will post later on!
