Interrupting the heavy work load today to insist on the beauty of the world. I never expected it, and I came to London really late, but it has become one of my favourite places on Earth. I was in my late twenties when I visited it the first time; and it really didn’t hit me until I realised that the best thing out of Dublin were the cheap and fast flights to London. After I organised a study trip to London for myself and a group of fellow students from my photography class in 2011, I resolved to visit London every year. Two Hobbit premieres and the Crucible run were much appreciated reasons for short breaks, and with a new job which requires regular work trips to London, frequent visits started in the summer of 2015. Over time, I became familiar with the city, yet I never stop taking photographs of it. It is beautiful, exciting and exhilarating. It never bores me, and I love the multicultural atmosphere of this nonetheless quintessentially English metropolis. It is a true “world city”.
Yesterday’s London attack may leave me speechless, but I will say it with pictures: I love London and #IRefuseToBeAfraid.
I can’t wait to schedule my next trip for late April. #IRefuseToBeAfraid.

Wonderful pictures, Guylty. I’ve only been there a couple of times, but I fell in love with it immediately! It holds so much history and diversity, so many layers. As Dr. Johnson said, when you’re tired of London, you’re tired of life. Also–best city parks ever!

The city and it’s people are and will always be wonderful 🙂 And nothing will change that. The resilience and determination to lead a life in normally should be underestimated. We work and live on as normal, thanks in very large part to all those who protect us and help us in need. Having experienced their assistance and care first hand on several occasions i cannot say enough how much today, but also every day i am filled with gratitude for those who make us safe, who care for our health and who allows us to move about and get to work and move about the city.
It’s unique and strong through diversity, resilience, care and acceptance and nobody will be allowed to permanently disrupt those values. Today, as everyday we remain thankful and think with gratitude of all those who allow the city to be its open, buzzing, alive self.

Thank you for sharing the beauty of that wonderful city. It is a very special place and I am so grateful to have experienced it with some of the fandom. I am looking forward to returning someday; with more time to walk the streets and absorb the atmosphere. A month there would not be enough, there is so much to see and do.

Like a play, perhaps? Oh, twist my arm. Someday years from now Abby/Awk will draw a funny cartoon about how quickly I caved on tickets to LLL when we were on the phone together looking at seats online.
Me: I am NOT buying tix to a play whose cast has not been announced.
Abby: There are 4 seats in the front row.
Me: BUY THEM RIGHT NOW!!!
I can’t even pretend anymore. When you tell me to book the air tickets, I will do so.

J’aimerais beaucoup trainer à Londres, sur les traces de la mémoire… Vos photos me renvoient à certains films anglais que j’adore. Mais apparemment les effets du Brexit et des attentats commencent à apparaître, avec de plus en plus de tracasseries administratives, pour les voyageurs vers la GB.

And you are right – Brexit has really put a dampener on travel plans for the UK. However, maybe we just need to make the most of it before Britain actually exits the EU. It will be two years until the new restrictions will come into play. In case of an “important theatre event in London in 2018, let’s hope that we can still travel freely!

Jetzt erst recht! Auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert, egal zu welcher Jahreszeit. Ich war selber überrascht, wie gut mir London gefällt. Ich möchte da zwar nicht leben (zu groß), aber für Urlaub ist das einfach toll. Ich drücke die Daumen, dass du bald mal hinkommst.

Can never get enough of London and will always admire how the wonderful place, with it’s equally wonderful people, just keeps on keeping on no matter how many times it has been battered and bruised. Thank you for the beautiful photos and lovely memories of time spent in that truly great city. I can’t wait to be back there again in the future.

He also wears a t-shirt with “Keep Calm and Love London” written on it and it is heartening to know that the majority of the population of dear old London town are doing just that, as are those who stand with them. We are not afraid to say we will be visiting again as soon as we can ☺

I love London too. My brother lives there and I’ve been there several times in recent years, still loving it. Like you, I love the multicultural feel of it too. And I too will be there in April for a long weekend with my son! A stupid terrorist attack and even Brexit (for now) won’t keep me away from this city…
