This clip of Richard BTS at the recording for Stitcher’s Wolverine podcast has just dropped.
First response – oh lordy. I had resolved not to buy a subscription to this piece of audio work because a) not a fan of audio and b) not a major fan of Wolverine. But this is fascinating. I am intrigued by Armitage writhing and walking and *acting* the audio work in the confines of the studio. And not just on his own, but together with other actors. No hermetically sealed booth, but a large room in which the actors have space to bring the narrative to life. That sounds extraordinary.
Also – I just love the idea of Armitage doing something for ‘fans’. Granted, I am not part of the original target group. But I like that he is aware of the fans’ expectations. Judging by the reviews so far, he has really hit it out of the park.

Where do I sign up for Stitcher???
I almost signed up this afternoon but chickened out. Does anyone have any experience with Stitcher?

I have just signed up and the process was really easy in my case. (Servetus had written about problems, but it worked without hitch for me.) However, I am having problems listening to the piece on my macbook. Works fine on my iPhone, though…

If you’re using Safari, that might be the problem. I never got it to load on Safari even after I got it to work on Firefox.

Oh, I never thought about the possibility of it being browser-related. However, I wasn’t using Safari but Chrome. (And I just checked again and now it’s all there. Curious. Maybe their server couldn’t cope with the demand a couple of days ago…)

It does look really interesting. I am wondering if I can hold out until the fall when it is available on other platforms. I hesitate to pay for a subscription when if I’m patient I might get it as a disc or MP3 later. Where did you find the BTS content?

True, an MP3 for keeps is preferable! However, I have to say it’s really worth it. I have just listened to both episodes and they are great. Much better listening experience than an audiobook! Much to my surprise. Or maybe not. One of my favourite Armitage aufio works has always been Clarissa, which is also a play, not a narration.
Anyway, I saw this on Twitter.

Is this available in Europe? I thought we would have to wait for I-tunes to buy it.

No, you can subscribe to it from anywhere. I had no problem signing up and listened to the first couple of episodes yesterday.

Thanks it’s good to know you are happy with the listening experience. I can only listen on my iPad or iPhone so I was also concerned about the sound quality using those devices. I do have headphones I can use with them so that might help. I totally agree that Clarissa was great. I may have to revisit that one.

Sound quality is really good. It actually stood out to me as really good because just before I listened to Wolverine I finally finished The Tattooist – and the sound quality of the latter is really really bad.

I’d recommend listening on stereo headphones. It’s fine w/o but they put in a lot of work to make it sound multi-directional.

IKR. And there I was, feeling a bit *meh* about RA the last few days – and boom, there comes this clip. 😍😵

I signed up the other day. It was 1*2*3 easy. I knew that I was going to do this when RA announced he was the new Wolverine. Wolverine was my son’s favorite all the way back to his comic collecting days. I couldn’t miss RA as Wolverine, I know that Ben would have been on board.

After hearing the first two episodes, I have to say that I am fully on board, too. Wow. I am not regretting the subscription.

Slinky shirt. Love how that knit drapes so nicely over his…form. Oh, is he speaking, too?

Nice one – and very true. He looks really well in his tight shirt 😁

It’s hilarious that of all the people they could have picked, they chose the one person that looks like Hugh Jackman 😀

Maybe that is what got their attention? But besides that, he really is a great audio performer – although there hasn’t been that much of Logan in the first two episodes yet.

Klasse.
