Spontaneous Charity Auction – And We Are On!

The voice of the people has spoken! We have a spontaneous charity auction coming up!! In today’s RAPS post I asked you what to do with the Chop shrine, and the answer was more or less unanimous – auction it off for charity. No sooner had the first feedback appeared, when our one and only plushie queen, Sinnamin, got in touch to donate one of her darling plushies to the auction. A Chop plushie added, I can now announce –

Coming in a couple of hours: Live now:

The Chop Charity Auction

benefitting Action for Children, on the occasion of the Urban and the Shed Crew premiere at Newcastle International Film Festival

At the time of posting this announcement (Wednesday, 10.30pm BST), the auction is not live yet. What you see above is a screenshot of my auction preview. But please save the following link which will guide you directly to my eBay site where the auction will go live at 0.00 amhttps://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/guylty.

UPDATE: And we are live now: Click HERE to go to the auction. The auction is scheduled to run for 3 days, finishing Saturday night.

100% of the funds raised will go to charity, as I am offering all auctions free of postage/packaging charges. The beneficiary is UK charity Action for Children to whom film maker Candida Brady has promised some proceeds from her film, too. Considering that UATSC is a film about the hard times of a group of children in 1990s Leeds, it is only fitting that Action for Children was chosen, a charity that is committed to helping vulnerable and neglected children and young people, and their families, throughout the UK.

The auction is hosted on eBay, in an effort to widen the reach and to enable reliable, easy, and anonymous bidding. In order to get at least a minimum donation together, I have taken the liberty of setting a starting bid for the auction. It reflects the usual price of these hand-made items.

A little bit of small print: The auction is private and non-commercial, a fundraiser for charity. I will try and update you on the progress of the auctions as we go along. The item will go to the highest bidder, upon payment. Since this is a fundraiser, I am charging no postage fees and I will also cover the initial fees for listing and the cut charged by eBay for auctioning. The items will be carefully packaged and separately sent from Ireland and India by registered mail anywhere in the world. No returns possible, I am afraid, as this is a charity project. The final, total proceeds will be posted here on blog, and I will notify you via blog when the donation has been made.

All proceeds of this auction will go to Action for Children via Richard’s JustGiving page. If you do not wish to bid in the auction but would like to contribute with a donation, please send me an e-mail and I can facilitate that.

So please check out the auction over the course of the next three days! Bidding is open for all, anywhere in the world. Stay tuned for updates on the auctions’ progress – I will try to post highlights here over the next few days.

Thank you for generously bidding for a good cause, and best of luck for UATSC at NIFF 2018!

  2. What a great combo for some lucky bidder. It’s extra special that you and Sinnamin combined your time, talent and generous hearts for the benefit of such a worthy cause. Wishing you a successful auction. 😊
