So glad to see that some things never change. But boy, yet *another* audiobook? Well, that Audible subscription is *really* paying off, I have to say. I can see lots of walks in my future. October and November will be busy, and 2019 is already sorted, too. Yay!

Combination of frugality, not being precious about what he wears, and this being a favourite t-shirt, probably. That particular shirt has been seen on several occasions over the last four years or so, and not only in the recording studio 😉 Lucky shirt all around. (I think I should make a “Lucky t-shirt themed” shrine.)

Yes yes I love his Belstaff look I watched more of Lucas last night and I like him clean shaven like that but he was in his late 30s then. I totally get his commentary on morphing into Proctor I think he grew in maturity on a physical and hopefully emotional level having played such a strong character.

Proctor was a seminal role for him to play. I thought it was really interesting that he had played Proctor in drama school (or rather: the last quarter or so of the play, so the really emotional scenes at the end), and then revisited the character 20 years later. It must have been an interesting, possibly uplifting experience, discovering how much he has learnt since graduating and how he must have gained new insights into that character thanks to his own growing life experience…

Hahaha you made my day! I was watching Spooks S8 Eps1 last night thinking about ya and the conversation w Kelly re Thorin vs Lucas and trying to really concentrate on the eyes and gestures and how he interacts w Ros and of course Sarah (🤯) I think S8 he comes into his own more as being comfortable w the character so I’ll concede that I like. I’m more a lovable teddy bear sort of guy girl although Sid Guy in his own immeasurable way was a teddy bear around Marian

Yay, my work here is done. I have made you see the glory of broken, complex Lucas North. And btw, you should stop right there, because after Season 8 it doesn’t get any better.
I fully get the attraction of the “lovable teddy bear”, and Guy – despite is romantic antics – is not really cuddly as such. He’s in a league of his own, probably thanks to a rather visceral, sexy undercurrent in the character.

I guess it’s always a combination of what he says and what we as the audience bring to the table. A lot of it is my own impatience with his (perceived) insecurity—‘argh, why can’t you see how great you are’—but of course that’s my problem. It would be nonsensical to assume that a person who’s subjectively great-to-me (and millions of others) would have no self-doubts. It’s the same as people saying they can’t understand if rich/famous people are depressed, à la ‘what do they have to worry about’. We all have stuff to deal with and nobody can see inside and judge another’s circumstances.

Yes I think you hit the bulls eye there. He is gorgeous and talented and we see that but he may have lingering doubts or as he says hates the sound of his own voice(ah the irony in that statement) but you know what I like that he is honest and humble. That to me is part of the allure and crush that he doesn’t Bieber himself. He’s got nice manners and respectful of others.

Good point about the bone structure comment. Of course, we always see ourselves quite differently from how others perceive us. But hey, I am also getting quite annoyed here that my opinion as a fan is so obviously worth nothing to the man. Come on, it means *something* if thousands of women find you attractive and swoon over your characters even when they are *not* meant as romantic leads. *exasperated sigh*

Y’know what Jenny, you’re absolutely right. I hadn’t considered that angle properly. My BFF is from Northern England and she’s mentioned this and is also quite good at what we Djermans call ‘tiefstapeln’ ➡️ being overly modest.
