Happy Christmas, All!

The tree has been put up, the little appreciation gifts handed in to my favourite two employees in the local supermarket. The husband and I have sneaked out for a quick, secret cappuccino while my mum is having some quiet time, and while all is still still, I am taking the opportunity to wish you all a happy Christmas, too.

That’s Dublin Christmas for you – some beautiful doors all around my neighbourhood. And an idea stolen from Sabine aka @heyerette on Twitter who delights us all with her beautiful mews pictures from London. I took those pictures yesterday, on a walk with my mum ’round the block. As you can see it is mild and wet here – no white Christmas for us. But heck, if I was dreaming of anything this Christmas, it wouldn’t be snow, anyway, but rather something darker. And tall. And handsome 😉

Nah, seriously – the festivities start in roughly an hour and a half. Mama Guylty has requested to go to church for the Christmas service at 5pm, then there is traditional sauerkraut and bratwurst dinner at 6.30pm and finally the lighting of the Christmas tree and the exchange of presents afterwards. This year with an open end because the amount of presents is – shocking, enormous and too much tbh. What is most valuable, though, is the time spent together – talking, reminiscing, enjoying each other’s company.

The same applies to all of you, my dear friends-in-RA! So let me wish you all a jolly and bright Christmas – if you are celebrating it. Or some lovely time with your family and friends, a few seconds to put your feet up and enjoy all that you have got, aside from your tangible possessions – a roof over your head, a nice dinner, peace and prosperity in your country, work that pays the bills and possibly some luxuries on the side, too, healthy children, parents and pets, and a happy disposition that allows you to appreciate the creative gifts we receive from our favourite artist every year. 

And especially to *him* I send warm Christmas vibes – nothing will ever replace the love that is given by a mother but maybe some of our Christmas wishes will intangibly create that ‘bubble of love’ for RA that anyone needs when dealing with bereavement and grief. I’d be delighted if I could ever give something back in the same way that I have received from him – just the sheer joy of living and of life, of appreciating the beauty in the world, and of feeling inspired by what we see. Lots of Christmas love and thanks to you, dear Richard!

It’s exciting that there will be a few RA glimpses in the new year at last – including Flat Ritchie ( I posted this in your round up but it is more appropriate here!) xx

    Hope you and all your family have a happy and peaceful time and that “das spiegelei ist nicht auf dem boden” for your special meal 🙂 Also I remembered some more, so ich hoffe, dass Ihr Lieblingsschauspieler in Ihren träumen ist, wenn nicht in der realität.     We had a lovely service at our church yesterday evening , the choir were great and sang my favourite carol Gaudete . Later tonight we have midnight mass

    I loved the gorgeous Dublin doors when we were there, they started my penchant for taking photos of doors wherever we went after that – the oldest one being at Chepstow Castle, William Marshal’s stronghold in Wales.

  24. Fröhliche Weihnachten in Familie für dich! Vielen Dank, dass du uns hier ein Wohnzimmer fürs Fangirling und so viele andere schöne, lustige und interessante Sachen bietest.
    Leider lag heute hier niemand großes, dunkelhaariges, gutaussehendes unterm Baum. Dafür gibt’s weiße Weihnachten, ungewünscht, aber trotzdem malerisch anzuschauen.

  29. A Late Merry Christmas. Been busy cooking for both Christmas Eve and Christmas. Having Brats and Sauerkraut for my youngest sons 18th birthday party on Saturday. Very little snow by me and kind of not normal but I am taking it since we our to have snow and snow/rain mix tonight and tomorrow.
