So, either Richard went back onto the slopes or his trip to Sundance really was very short… While the rest of the crew continued interviews today, it appears as if RA is already gone. Well, I take the opportunity to post another picture from the great loot this weekend. I’m in love.

No, I *am*. Who doesn’t love goofy Richie?
Ok, alright, the photo was just unnecessary distraction. The real reason I am posting today is to update you on Flat Richie’s whereabouts. I think we need to rename the guy. He may be flat, but he is also jet set! He has crossed the Atlantic once again – the fourth time since he started his journey!
He has now arrived in England where Armidreamer is hosting him. She has written her own blog post about him, so please have a look at her blog and leave her a comment 🙂. But here he is, just as proof:
Armidreamer informs me that Flat Richie will hit the road in the next few days. He won’t have to go very far, I know that already… Thank you for informing us about his whereabouts, Dreamer – it’s lovely to see him again. Enjoy your time with him – and the gifts he brought along 🙂

I doubt he’s going to join into the live-tweeting. The last time he did it, it sounded as if it had been pre-written and was not very exciting…

When did he live tweet this season? I just finished the ep 8 on Epix on demand holy fucking shit! Do not read spoilers if you intend to watch it! It is totally fucked up! I have a glass of Glenlevet now to calm me down!! Maybe he was in and out and wanted to get back home for his dad. I took away that he looked like he had been eating more and was excited to get back into the game! Plus skiing!! I’ve viewed that video like 100 times this weekend! Sooooo sweeetttttt!!!’n

If the festival is about the directors and finding distribution he didn’t offer much.
Honestly I was surprised he turned up, I guess the opportunity to ski helped.

Well, I don’t really think he just turned up on his own initiative. Promo stuff like that is contracted, so I bet he was told to turn up. But yeah, I think they basically didn’t make proper use of him, neither the film’s directors/producers/promo people, nor the interviewers. Good for him though, don’t you think – after all he’s an anti-socialite 😉
Free skiing holiday, though.

I think he’s not as anti social as he makes out. Possibly more in the past but that was due to shyness. He’s definatley grown into himself the last few years. (IMO)

I’ve always wondered if jet lag isn’t as bad if you have an extremely short trip. It’s not as if he had time to adjust to the time difference and yesterday was a brutally long and busy day for him. As long as he is sleeping on the way back (as one can easily do in first class. I assume.), he should be as fresh as a dorky daisy for the big 🐉🐲🐉 event.

That’s an interesting theory, LoLo. I think you are already providing the answer – flying first class, I am sure he got plenty of space and opportunity for a bit of shuteye. Even if he didn’t fly much further than New York – Salt Lake City. Staying up late probably also helped. And yeah, his way to Europe should be easypeasy – thanks to 1st class again.

Yeah no maybe there is some bitterness there on his part-like he was f–d over by Epix and Horwitz. What sane Cable channel puts a tweet out “May he rest in peace which Daniel Miller season was your favorite?” I mean how caddy is that?? No wonder he didn’t tweet anything yesterday about last night’s episode.

Well it wasn’t a Spooks type of scenario where he said he didn’t know if Lucas was killed off or not. If he wanted out he could have filmed all the way thru and been killed in the last episode

I think that is definitely the case here, Rachel. I can’t believe that Daniel’s demise was in their master plan. He was always billed as the lead of the show, and they planted storylines in season one that were unresolved in season two and thus plots that were there for a long tenure of the actor in question… My guess is that a) Richard had already had enough after season 2 (possibly as frustrated as we were with being underused and overshadowed???) and b) really wanted out because of his difficult personal situation last year. The latter was probably a great excuse to exit the show. Only that the showrunners reacted ungraciously and wrote him a violent and final end.
(Hm, I really sound as if I am in APM, though…)

Shades of Strike Back’s second series? Richard was contracted to continue wasn’t he, then the Thorin role came along and he had to extricate himself. I reckon the writers had an ungracious reaction there too. Instead of just letting Porter drive off into the sunset at the end of S1, leaving his destination to our happy imaginations, they had to script a bloody, violent death for him (which I have never watched btw, it’s enough that the stills I accidentally come across at the time are forever etched in my brain 😢)

You know, I have often wondered the same, Mezz, whether the writers were being really mean and giving Porter an extra violent death. Also a death that there was no coming back from – recorded on camera (unlike Lucas NOrth, for instance), so that the actor was well and truly out.

That was truly a move from the bullshit school of marketing, I agree, Michele. More so because it came at a time when the episode hadn’t been streamed in all the syndicated channels yet, so pretty dumb. The fact that they deleted the post a little while later, means that they copped on, though.
As for RA not tweeting about BS – very strange indeed tbh. Here we go into the realm of speculation again, but is that because it was an acrimonious split between him and BS, or is it because he doesn’t want to detract from the fabulous news that he has bagged another lead role for a streaming giant?

Guylty that is an interesting dichotomy I think the Netflix series will be ways better and he will have more freedom to contribute than BS so when he said last January at NFF he didn’t know if he was returning he was telling the truth!! At the time I thought it was bizarre b/c he’s the star of the show how can he not know right? But the cable channel is a train wreck and I’ll watch the first two seasons esp BS1 ep 5 🤗😉🤣

Well, I would take his statement at NFF to me “The showrunners haven’t told me yet what is happening in BS3 to Daniel; and I am not sure whether I still want to be in there.” 😀 I suspect he is happy to be leaving. He has said before that he doesn’t like to stay in a series for longer than three years. Well, bingo – 3 seasons as the star of BS, and he is off to greener pastures. Perfect planning!

Now you are a binding with all your ideas throughout the year that keep us interested in each other, not just Richard. You, and others who blog, run fan sites, make Richie crafts… have helped bring individuals from around the world together. When BBC America aired Robin Who in 2008, and I found Richard, I never dreamt what it would become. Once I discovered there were others, it changed my life. The online sites are responsible for that. 💖

Hmmm, that is a long time. Not as long as some, a lot longer than others. It was lucky I saw I was watching BBCA, to see the commercials about it premiering over here when it did. It really did change everything for me. He’s the only one in 55 years that made me a real fan, but the bonus that came with him is priceless, and a huge part of my life. I don’t suppose he’d come and celebrate with me? 😉😏
