Armitage Weekly Round-up 2019/18

If you read yesterday’s post, you might remember that I had announced I was going to spend the day at the shrining bench. Well, I did.

*tease tease* Not sure yet what I will do with them. But watch out and check your mailboxes… just in case…

But let’s proceed with the usual Saturday proceedings. This week’s round-up, ladies and gentlemen:

  1. Ouch! What a Guy wants really hurts today. A series by nfcomics
  2. This might be a new tumblr game, but I am sure we can play this with words, too: Three favourite Lucas moments. Posted by idlesuperstar. What are yours?
  3. This reads like a whole explanation of Bagginshield, directed at Sir Peter Jackson. Hm, I have to admit – it figures. An open letter by baggvinshield
  4. *coughs* This black beauty by riepu10 is just for me. Because I am the autocratic author of this compilation. *evillaugh*
  5. Be patient and wait a few seconds until wisesnail has turned a few pages – and then be blown away. Beautiful!
  6. There is always space for some muscle shots. Richard in training for Thorin, compiled by thewarriorandtheking
  7. Haven’t read this, but just for the few of you who are so taken with reader insert fan fics in the second person singular (…), here is a Thorin fan fic by luna-xial
  8. Can someone please do a set with Richard’s worst wigs? Sorry, not the point of riepu10’s gif set of John Porter, but just sayin’
  9. Mininottingham has recently expanded its vehicle fleet. Here’s Guy on a bike. He was totally made for it, if you ask me
  10. LOL – provocation by especially-in-heaven. I had no idea there were people out there who actually loved RobinxMarian
  11. Here are some thoughts by lyledebeast on Marian’s death in RH
  12.  Not sure whether I had already posted  this? Plushie  Adam, made by sinnaminie
  13. OMG – how did I miss this when this came around??? *That* meme – with Robin, Marian and Guy. Thank you it-comes-in-venti

Lucky number?

Before I go, here’s a little update from the “Badgers” – the select few who are in possession of the fandom identifier badges. It’s been a while since we last saw a picture of any, but here is a recent sighting:

Get it? Yep, that is a proper recreation of a seminal incident way back in… I don’t even know when. 2015? Anyway, thanks to Frenz and Besotted for the fun picture. You nearly fooled me 😉

Have a lovely weekend all!

Guylty ❤️

PS: For those of you who enjoyed listening to my charming mixture of Djerman and Oirish 😉 – there are a few new videos on my crafty channel on Youtube

  1. Good morning to you! As usual, tumblr is being an ass, but as soon as it’s working again, I will read that second person fic immediately. *nods solemnly*

      • I always use the same device. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I have no idea why. When I leave it and try again a while later it usually resolves itself. 🤷🏻‍♀️

        • Sometimes clearing the cache out of the particular browser I’m using helps.

Find myself increasingly using Firefox Brower which seems a bit sturdier and doesn’t track your every keystroke which just helps to clog things up on my laptop.

That does not necessarily solve the phone app crash problems.

          • Ungh, the phone app crashes are sooo annoying!!

I use Firefox as well (and 🦆 🦆 Go), but when I open a link out of the app it defaults to the standard. Maybe I should try a copy/paste approach.

            • I think making Firefox and Duck Duck Go your default browser and default search engine might fix it so that the links open there instead helps. Then you don’t have to go back and clear out cache on safari or chrome. Unless you reset your Mac devices to factory setting, Safari will keep track of everywhere you’ve been, even though they insist those files takes up very little space on each of your devices. Have not researched how chrome tracks, but I’m sure it’s there, only from hearing others talk and complain about it. But the biggest Watcher, record of every keystroke we make is Amazon. Even if you aren’t buying stuff from their site, they sell their analytics & various web services to just about every else online and able to gather up all that data on us all. There pretty much isn’t any where world wide we can go where they don’t have data on it.

And here I was stressing about Skynet and surviving the zombie apocalypse.

The WordPress crashes are frakjng annoying on iPhone and iPad. Almost all of the time it crashes when I’m just trying to read blogs & posts. Don’t always have laptop or desktop handy, so give up so much of the time. Grrr

#8 I can do the set! I’ve been thinking about ideaa of edits and this sounds brilliant. Any wishes what you want to see in it? Other than security Porter

  4. I like real person fiction, but I prefer 3rd person to 2nd person. Oh and original character, not y/n, the latter bring almost the same as 2nd person.

I love the Washington Square picture! When my hubby and I visited New York a few years ago, I dragged him there so I could figure out exactly where R&L had been sitting! My hubby is a good sport.

That pink travel journal is really wonderful! Must have taken a very long time to create.

    • The whole 2nd person, reader insert fan fiction really needs getting used to. Not my fave, either.
And I also confess to looking up Washington Square when I was in NY for LLL…
Glad you liked the pinky journal – putting together a journal is a matter of a couple of hours, really. It’s creating those little extras – the tags and tucks and cards and pads – and the decorations that take so much longer. But it’s all great fun, and so I don’t count the hours but just enjoy the process 🙂

  5. Thanks Guylty.
    2. Three favourite Lucas moments . Oh god there are hundreds! Today it is wet legs in the Russian crim’s swimming pool, Lucas kicking the scientist’s door down and him saying “I’ve got a cravin'”.
    4. Black beauty indeed! Leather-clad Guy is sometimes too much to take. I seem to have an RA leg fixation today because I adore his long leather leg in the pic of him below the set in the ducking- stool scene.
    8. Porter wig – ugh, could they have made him look more dejected?
    13. That is hilarious – and so true!

    • Re 8. My favorite description of Porter’s “bad” hair is Daphne’s report from her first viewing of Love, Love, Love, describing 1960s Kenneth in Act 1: “RA gorgeous but omg wig cross bw Monet and sad sack Porter.”

    • Oh, the wet jeans scene *eeeeek*. Eternal favourite. And not just for the wet bum but for everything. The way Lucas strides energetically and purposefully into the pool, grabs the man and gets what he wants… Alpha, pure alpha.
The first time I saw dejected Porter in his security job, I had to laugh about that wig. But in a way that whole ‘grown out hair’ look was a great characterisation for the character at that time… but yeah, really awful look.
13 was just so spot on…

  6. #11 – Agree with Lyledebeasts’ thoughts on Marian’s death. RH show writers ability were narrow and limited.

Or as my hubs like to point out; “lazy writing” on the show writer’s part.

Thank goodness Sir Guy was there to distract me from the poorly thought out storyline so I could focus on how amazing he looked in those leathers. Not that I’m shallow . . . (as my brain thinks back) well maybe.
    Haha
