Catching Up With #FlatRichie

So, Flat Richie has sent me a few holiday postcards ๐Ÿ˜‰. Not quite – but finally, after a bit of a hiatus, I have some stories to tell. ๐Ÿ˜ It’s been a good long while since Flat Richie last surfaced. From Tennessee he travelled to Oklahoma.

That’s a nice, neat straight line there on the map, and only 750 kilometers, or so. In American terms – just a little daytrip away, right? Unfortunately Flat Richie arrived at a bad time, with lots of things going on in Jen’s life, and hence he stayed a little longer to support her. Things are still hectic, but Jen nevertheless has long sent on the parcel to the next recipient. More about the next stop on the journey in a post tomorrow. She sent me a few pictures to illustrate the update.

Here’s Jen’s entry into the log book. I can spot an apology ๐Ÿ˜‚

The next image is a selection of 5 items which I had originally picked out (I wanted the candle, the Greek soap, the Funny Knight Apron, the Ferrero Rocher candy, and a little heart ornament which I stuck to one of my plant misters to indicate that was the one that still works)… I later re-discovered the instructions and had to return the candle and the soap, since rules said up to 3 items and, well,ย  Hubby was already grilling in the manly apron, I ate the candy immediately, and the ornament went into use straight away misting the ferns and orchids.

The third photo is a sneak peak at one of the 3 items I replaced… travelling angel wings to protect Flat Richie as he goes!

Finally, Jen enclosed an mp4 video which I turned into a gif (for less storage space on blog). In Jen’s words:

That is the type of weather Flat Richie left behind (a view from the UPS store as I dropped him off!… and I do want it to be on record that he survived 61 tornadoes across Oklahoma during his stay with me… lucky to make it out alive!) Haha…

Why, Jen, that looks like a perfectly fine Irish summer’s day to me ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Anyhow, many thanks to Jen for her illustrated report. I had no doubt that Flat Richie would be in good hands with you – I just wish you had had less distraction and more opportunity to enjoy him. Here’s hoping that things will quieten down for you now and you can actually enjoy the summer a bit.

For a look at Flat Richie’s itinerary so far, look here:

Last news:

Flat Richie has already left his *next* stop and is now on his way across the Atlantic once again, over to Europe. But his last stop on the North American continent (for now) will be covered in a separate post on this blog, probably tomorrow.

    • Yes, I was absolutely stunned – and not in a good way. That was ABSOLUTELY NOT my intention when I started the parcel chain. In fact – you can see on my original post that I took care to keep the parcel BELOW 2 kilos in weight in order to reign in the postage costs. I paid 22 Euro – and that included an extra of 7 Euro for tracking. I’m afraid people have been very well-meaning and generous, and added lovely things to the parcel – but with consequences for the postage. You will see in tomorrow’s Flat Richie catch-up that the latest recipient has attempted to reduce the fees again… – It’s usually not so bad when you send a parcel within the US, or within Europe. But any time it has to cross an ocean, the fees become astronomical…
Anyway, the upshot of this is – if the package is still extra heavy by the time it reaches you, I will give you special permission to choose more than three items in order to weed the heavy items out and get the parcel back to a workable size and weight.

  2. Gorgeous stuff!!!!

I recognize that weather… not only did I live in the Tulsa area for more than a few years when I was in elementary school, it visited us in a bad way last week.

Yeah, I saw the 3 digit postage and when Flat Richie gets to me, he’s going back over the Big Pond. Can’t do that… really…

  3. Glad to see Richie is alive and survived the 61 tornadoes! And good to hear from Jen, too! (Miss the blog!) I love the knight apron… is it guaranteed to make any hubby look like Sir Guy? ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
