I was a bad fan last night. Rather than hang on the internet for new pictures of Richard, I was content as soon as I had seen this.

I usually don’t remember any dreams that I have, but this morning I woke up with a clear recollection of a purple settee I had seen in my dreams. Hm. Funny thing is – after seeing above picture last night, all I could think of was riddlerriddlerriddler. I’m not *really* a fan of the “one fabric – whole look” look. But after sleeping on it, I am actually thinking more along the lines of “Kudos”. Definitely a statement, and I am sure it did what it was supposed to do – it attracted attention. Good on ya, Richard. Or should the thumbs up really go to Ilaria?
What’s your take on it? Pretty in purple, or purple pain?
In any case, while perusing the news this morning, I’ve put together a Twitter moment for your convenience. Apparently some of our fan sisters were there – “Eve” said so in the comments here a couple of days ago, and I saw that Cyn @dainty_c tweeted from the event. I can’t wait to hear what they saw, whether they spoke with RA and what they make of the film.
Happy Sunday!
Awesome in purple! That colour suits him so well. ❤

Agree- it does. Although it is too much of a good thing for me.

He can definitely pull off the color extremely well. I’m still not sold on the shirt-tie combo. But I do like the earlier tweed ‘n mustard outfit (minus the shoes). But yeah, he was definitely impossible to overlook!

If push comes to shove, I have to say I prefer the purple couch to the mustard and check rug.

😂😂 check rug
I’m afraid I may have a tweed fetish. 😱

When I saw the first pics of the all-over look I was immediately reminded of a checked kitchen towel…But the pics from outside are quite nice, especially the one posted by Olga Yakhnow. The colour suits him well but the shiny material reflects a bit too much in the flash lights for my taste.
I detest the tweed/mustard/red sneakers look and the much too filtered selfie I didn’t like either.
He looks quite tired but it’s no wonder, really. But he seems to enjoy the event.

Oh, I know exactly which kind of kitchen towel you mean. 😂
I have to say, though – the fact that he looks so radiant and happy in the suit, speaks for itself. He obviously felt comfortable. I like that.

Purple suits him, it seems to bring out the blue in his eyes, but I’m not a fan of this all in one. It’s a beautiful fabric, and as such – as I commented at Zee’s – it deserves to be showcased one piece at a time – suit or tie or shirt.
Such beautiful photos of him looking happy and well, I particularly love the three-quarter profile shot in this one:

I think that is a very good point – showcased one piece at a time. I would’ve liked the jacket on its own, or maybe as a suit. Possibly even a three-piece. The pattern would’ve looked great as a stand-alone tie, too. I really am not into the shirt like that, though.

I guess a suit/combo like that will always be decisive. Personally i think it fits beautifully, the colour is fab on him and he looks smart and stylish. It’s great for the job of attending a premiere- in that he’s trying to stand out but without looking garish. It’s also slightly edgy with shirt, suit and tie all being the same colour and pattern.

Divisive?
The suit is definitely well fitting – must be custom tailored? The colour does look good on him with his pale skin and dark hair. I have to disagree on the “not garish”, though – I thought it looked rather bright in daylight.

hehe yeah divisive!
but that;s what i’m getting at-i really like it-you not so much-i genuinely don’t think there’s a right answer

Of course there isn’t. It’s a matter of taste. I’m not wholly convinced. But whether I am or not, makes not difference. It’s what *he* likes. I’m fine with that.

Love, Love, Love the purple suit! Wish I could tell exactly which shade of purple it was. I liked the tweed jacket, just was not a fan of the mustard sweater. As for Julie’s dress, it was not flattering.

Hm, IDK, I thought Julie was very classy. I liked that she was not overdressed. As opposed to Richard – I felt his combo was a bit too much for the occasion. Also, I didn’t think they coordinate it particularly well – that green dress and the bright purple suit was a of a clash…

I will agree with the clash. I saw the photos of them together and that word came to mind. He is monochrome while she is well – very green. I felt her dress wore her instead of her wearing the dress.

Hehe, perceptions… That’s what I thought about his ensemble. 😂Trying too hard.

I think it has been long established that he doesn’t care much of fashion and let’s Ilaria do the shopping…lol.

Yep. I wonder whether he sets any parameters at all.

Not a fan of the repeated pattern on everything. Looks like he was pinned to a wall while they wall papered. Perhaps if the shirt had been a solid purple, or black even… otherwise, it makes me dizzy.
Which is sad as purple is my favorite color.
On the other hand, he looks extremely happy! Happier than I think we’ve seen in a few years.

I definitely think that his smile lifts the outfit!

Oh don’t get me wrong, the suit is lovely. He definitely stands out in a crowd!!! But it’s just TOO MUCH of a good thing.

That’s hilarious about your sofa dream Guylty! I know what you mean, and the purple-all-in-one does remind me of one of those camouflage suits that blends with the furnishings (or wallpaper, like Zeesmuse said). I’m still not sure if I like it but he just looks so good. I don’t like everything he wears, e.g. the schoolboy cardigans, so i’m trying to be discerning but failing.

Yeah, I am trying to be positive, too. It’s just that I have no fashion sense, so I can only judge it with my own conventional mind… But yeah, as I said elsewhere – he looks smashing because he looks happy. Heck, with *that* smile, he could even rock the proverbial potato sack.

I liked his style choices at TIFF way better than what he wore at Sundance. I liked the purple suit on him not the shirt and tie- that was a bit much- but it gave the ensemble an element of style boldness that he carried off really well. I even liked the checked selfie suit and the plaid suit he wore on day 2. All of these outfits were enhanced by the fact that he looked happy, relaxed and confident..not to mention drop dead gorgeous. I’m really happy for him. He had the chance to share work that he is obviously very proud of and he seemed excited to support Julie and the film at the festival. I’m really looking forward to seeing this one.

I’ve been wondering – so far he has always appeared in fairly conventional get-ups at such occasions. Now some rather bold moves. What has freed up that experimentation? A better place in life/his career? His happiness and pride in the film most definitely enhanced his fashion choice.

Yeah I wonder too. He could have played it safe with a conservative jacket and pants or suit and it still would have been acceptable attire. This premier was special enough to hire a stylist so I’m thinking he made a conscious effort to dress to attract notice. Could be career driven although I am only guessing. I like to see him making bold choices like this. It’s keeping him fresh and exciting and young at heart.

I think you are right re. bold choices. There’s nothing wrong with that. You’ve got to try, anyway, to find what you really like. And in terms of attention, it really did the trick.

Love the suit, but agree that it is too much all at once. Black shirt would have been great, smacks of lack of imagination – “ok, like that, lets do everything the same”- however it is a minor quibble and lovely to see him out there and apparently enjoying himself xx
NOT commenting on the underwear…<3
