I’m still grinning from ear-to-ear because Ciaran Hinds has been announced fo the UV cast. When I heard about that yesterday, I immediately put a Persuasion rewatch on my list – and then followed through. For those of you who would like to see it: It’s actually on YT at the moment, and in HD quality. HERE.
But now on to the other TDH guy. (BTW, I totally think that *he* also would’ve made a convincing, stunning Captain Wentworth. He has that fabulous mixture of an austerely handsome face – that can melt into vulnerable love…)

I think Craig Parker was okay but I think the Doctor was on the rebound and it was never going to work.
Bit worried how big a part RA will have in UV because I looked in the huge reference book in our local library for the play and their synopsis doesn’t even mention the Doctor it’s all angst between the brother in laws .

It will also depend on McPherson’s version and since they announced Vanya and Astrov casting first and called them headliners, I assume it will center those characters.

Well, in the original play he is definitely one of the main players. And just judging by the fact that he gets top billing with Toby Jones, I expect RA to have a big-ish role in this adaptation. Who knows, maybe McPherson is going to rewrite the whole thing to make it more about Vanya and Astrov?

Der Landarzt 😱 – ich kann mich grad nicht erinnern, ob ich diese Sternstunde deutscher Fernsehunterhaltung jemals gesehen habe.
Hier wäre es dann “Der Landarzt 2.0” – der Arzt, dessen Anblick zu Herzrasen, Schweißausbrüchen und spontaner Ohnmacht führen kann. Dr. Astrov dürfte bei mir jederzeit auf einen Hausbesuch vorbeikommen…

Ooh, thanks for the link, Guylty. It was on my list, next to Lost in Austen but it somehow slipped my mind. Great roundup as always, with something for everyone. #15 Guy just has the best everything imho. 😂 Sometimes I felt quite sorry (not sorry) for Robin.

Watching tonight’s Countryfile programme I thought about Richard’s tweet about planting trees, we all need to plant 48 each year to offset our carbon footprint
I wonder if he went to the plantation near his Dad’s home he did talk about going there in pre Twitter days.

Great idea to rewatch Persuasion. If there would be a new remake RA would be a very good Captain Wentworth, too.
But this evening I rewatch the Hobbit on TV sur France 2. Thorin, hmmmm, not very romantic, but….. memories

“Le Hobbit sur France 2”. Je n’ai pas pu tenir devant la TV longtemps. L’image n’était pas top. La voix de Xavier Fagnon pas assez grave. Connaissant l’intrigue par coeur, j’anticipais l’action suivante. Le pire, le scénario du film paraissait avoir moins de sens, les scènes me semblaient tronquées… Seule, la vue de Radagast m’a apaisée. Dorénavant, la longue version originale sur DVD blu-ray sera la seule que je prendrais le temps de suivre intégralement.
J’adore regarder les peintures de “fan art” dans les “round up”. Merci Guylty, pour ces revues!
