… when worn by the right people…
I mean, Claude Becker and the Armitage original… that’s almost identical!!! But yeah, I am deliberately leaving out the “mustard scarf of evil” as sported by Sir Guy… Can’t remember Lucas North ever wearing a scarf. He probably had bronchia of steel. But look, even Portah gets a bit of extra swagger with his casually slung and location appropriate Shemag…
PS and OT: In case you are wondering where this uncharacteristically light-hearted post is coming from: I have had some really great news yesterday. One of my London friends is an ex-colleague with whom I worked for a large US internet company many years ago. She eventually relocated to London and subsequently had an astonishing career across a number of companies. And in almost every company she worked for, whenever there was an opportunity, she brought me in for writing jobs. Now she has done it again, and I have just been offered a freelance cooperation with a monthly flat rate remuneration with her current company. It is right up my street – and it will allow me to breathe easier again after two years of financial instability. Even though I would always claim that money is not important to me, I have to say that a regular income is certainly good for ease of mind. I have a suspicion that my (lately somewhat fragile) moods may get a bit lighter, soon… Here’s to good friends!
That’s wonderful news on the job front , you never know what’s around the corner and at this particular time positive news is always welcome.
It’s amazing what our man can do with a simple item of clothing like a scarf!!

Yep, whenever a door closes, another one opens. I am very grateful to this particular friend. And the universe in general.
Yep, anything looks great – when worn by himself…

Can we lose the beanie hat though? Lol
Congrats on the work btw

That beanie is… no! Just no.
Thanks, I am really chuffed and feel revitalised because someone needs my expertise 😎

I’ll take the scarves, don’t mind them. Your comment about socks and sandals gave me pause, though. Not sure I could be on board with that. If he did it someday as a goof, though…. Congrats on the job!

Yeah, the socks are a big turn-off. As someone recently said to me, a true contraceptive!

That’s great news about the work, Guylty, I’m so glad. It must be a real tonic. As for the scarves, you offer compelling evidence in their favour.

It really has lifted my spirits. The last months have been hard, and while I enjoy having time just doing my own stuff, I do like to have some work to make me feel useful…
The scarves really speak for themselves, haha.

So pleased to read your good news, Guylty! You deserve it. And your lighthearted mood has benefited us too, with that gorgeous Gallery of Scarfitage. I only hope Guy isn’t feeling the neglect. 😂

I think Guy was glad that his scratchy mustard number was omitted. He’s not a very scarfy guy 😉
And thanks for the encouragement!

Looking at the gallery of scarves, I have to say that I actually prefer the artsy-fartsy Claude Becker style to the middle-of-the-road Harry scarf.

Great news and thanks for sharing the good mood! I had a terrible day and your good vibes lightened my mood as well just now! 😀 Aaaand: Rickie Deeming’s scarf even was plot relevant! 😛

Oh, I am glad if a little bit of my enthusiasm rubbed off on you, too. We all deserve a bit of light and joy after the last 4 months!
Yes, Ricky’s fancy white scarf really was central to the plot…

Congrats on the job front, always nice to able to make some money and not have to worry about that part of life. I like the Ricky Deeming scarf, or maybe teamed up with the jacket.

Many thanks, Katie.
The Ricky Deeming style is particularly intriguing – just the contrast between the white fancy scarf (usually worn with a tuxedo or so) and the rough biker’s outfit… Ricky totally rocked it!

Great job news. You should buy a scarf to celebrate.

ROFL. Absolutely. Hm, what kind of scarf should I buy? I wouldn’t mind a grey-ish kind of scarf like the one that the dastardly Claude Becker wears…

Sure, go for it. You will think of this thread and your fan friends every time you wear it!

No one would object
To a scarf on RA’s neck.
But would I be a meanie,
If I criticized his beanie?
I would not be the first,
To say it is the worst .

*sniggers* oh yes, you have hit the nail on the head again. The beanie is a bit of an abomination. (I remember, though, someone tweeting about bumping into RA in NY a few years ago, wearing a beanie. Um. )

Great news about your work.
My female friend swears by scarves, she always has one in the bottom of her handbag if not wearing one, she reckons if you keep your neck covered you are immediately warmer (sitting in The Globe Theatre, for example ) and now they double for facing coverings lol

Thank you, Yve!
I have to say I am a big scarf wearer myself, too. Even in summer. (Unless it is really warm outside.) Some of it is actually just habit, but scarves can be very practical. I have this huge tie-dyed scarf which has doubled as a towel, a blanket, a brolli and even a quick sarong at the hotel pool bar… Love ’em.

Great news – and great friendship! Always love scarves – and coats, too, but it’s too hot. Really hot, I mean 32° C (almost 90°F), in the morning. Maybe something more refreshing? Please?

Hehe, oh, I totally forgot that the scarves are not particularly topical in *most* parts of Europe at the moment. They feel totally natural for Ireland – we have 14°C here. Yeah, not what you would call summer.
But now you have got me thinking. A little collection of speedo pictures?

Congratulations on the job news!
I adore scarves, I can’t always justify buying a new pair of shoes but a scarf is a relatively cheap way of dressing up an outfit or changing the whole look, and very necessary in winter!
As for chaRActer scarves, I like Daniel’s, especially since it’s teamed up appropriately for the cold weather with a warm jacket and leather gloves, and Porter’s shemagh. RA doesn’t look too shabby in his scarf either!

Yep, my collection of scarves is definitely too big, too. Hehe, but I am German, anyway, so it doesn’t count.
I’m glad that Daniel dresses appropriately for the cold Berlin winter!
