Quick Check-in

Hello everyone. Apologies for missing last week’s round-up and generally vanishing from my blog. I have been distracted but wanted to quickly give you a heads-up. The distraction unfortunately has not all been due to happy crafting – although I spent a couple of very constructive days at the weekend, sewing lots of little hand-sanitiser dangles for my Etsy. My motto since the beginning of the pandemic has been to use up my stash – and not buy anything new. Trouble is, I have so much, I am hardly making a dent *haha*. However, I managed to use up some of my fabric, and that is just as much joy to me as selling the finished items over on Etsy. If you want to have a look, check here.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t all been “good” distraction. Over the last few weeks, my dear, lovely husband hasn’t been feeling great. As a sufferer from a lung disease, he found it increasingly hard to breathe, struggling to get enough oxygen. Eventually he went to his GP yesterday, and as a result was sent to hospital. Hospitals are off-limits for visitors, though, so all could do was dropp him off at A&E. Luckily he was seen to pretty quickly, but they have kept him in for observation and may stay until the weekend. They initially put him up in the Covid ward – which had me seething with anger. Surely, someone in his condition should be kept as far away from the disease as possible. For him, it could be lethal to catch Covid. They moved him into another ward this morning, thank god. He is more comfortable now that he is getting oxygen from a tank, but some of his issues are still unresolved. To say that I am worried, is an understatement. – But at least he is in good hands and being looked after. I just hope that they can find out what is wrong – and somehow also make it better.

So the distraction continues, this time to distract me from morose and anxious thoughts. My kitchen has never been cleaner. And I have just another thing to distract me, sent to me by way of an e-mail from a reader of this blog who was worried that the links in the comments might get me into trouble. I don‘t think so, so I am posting them here now for you: If you haven‘t seen it, and also need some distraction, check out Richard‘s 2016 project Urban and the Shed Crew. Apart from a couple of film festivals, the film unfortunately was never shown in cinemas. Which is a shame, because it is definitely worth seeing. Big thank you to E___ for passing on the links.

I might rewatch it this evening, too. Wouldn’t mind a social worker looking after me for a bit *ggg*.

  1. Hi Sonja. *waves* So sorry to hear that your husband is in hospital. I hope the medics find out quickly what is wrong and that your husband feels better soon.

I can imagine how scared and worried you must be. It is an awful feeling when you can’t visit a loved one during their stay in hospital. I empathise. Sending you love and a big hug. xx

    • Thank you so much. Not being able to be there and distract him is really hard. I might see him today though because I need to get some pajamas to him… He’ll meet me in the car park 😃

  3. I’m sending lots of love and (((hugs))) to you and best wishes for Mr. Guylty‘s full and speedy recovery. If there’s one thing nobody needs it’s extra health worries these days (or any other time, really).

  6. I’m praying so much for your husband. I KNOW that’s scary! Every time I cough, my son has a conniption. He’ll even jump out of bed in the middle of the night and I’m sound asleep! So I know YOU’RE worried for him, so – even though you don’t believe, I do and I’ll be praying for all of you! Here’s to quick healing and coming home this weekend!

I love long-hair Richard. (coughs) and I have Urban and the Shed Crew but haven’t watched it yet. I need some serious down time. Spring break is coming up and while I’m going home to wait on my parents (and take things out of the attic and bring them to my house) I should have some time to watch some Richard-vision!

It will feel weird to see my Mother’s Christmas decorations up at my house.

    • Thank you, Zee, I really appreciate that. And a prayer is a positive thought, so even if I am not praying to god myself, I do believe in the power of the universe. Different name, same thing? Possibly.
Do it and get some Urban Richard-vision. I did it last night and it was a wonderful distraction. He is just so good…
Hope your visit with your parents will go well!

      • I do to. Last time I went home, I left early, not because I wanted to but because mom became rather… unhappy that there were other people in her home. I’m hoping to get out to see my friend and my sister – or at least do some shopping, to get out of the house so she can relax. She doesn’t like company for long, and according to her, I’m a stranger. soooo…

  10. I had an inkling something was wrong when you weren’t posting, and I’m so sorry to hear the news about Mr Guylty. I know how scary it must be, having been through something similar myself, as many of us here must have done. I echo what everyone has been saying – I’m thinking of you both, sending virtual hugs to you and my very best wishes for MrG’s speedy recovery.
