Hello hello hello! This may be the last day of our current heatwave in Ireland, and so I am late with the round-up on this warm, sunny Saturday. I’m just back from taking a gorgeous walk with my son, to our favourite place, Poolbeg Lighthouse. And I thus had some precious quality time with him, chatting and catching up. – As I am sitting near my wide-open kitchen window, I can hear the noise from a large demo that seems to be currently going on a few hundred meters away from me. They are protesting against the Covid restrictions, and from what I have seen of the protest on social media, the crowd is large, they are not wearing masks and there is no social distancing. ARSEHOLES. I am thoroughly disgusted with these people misusing the word “freedom” for their protest. I’d rather not wear masks, stay away from people, take a vaccine and give up travelling. But if that is what it takes to kick this virus in the butt, then I am willing to do it – for the greater good that all those “liberty-loving” people are going to benefit from. Assholes, truly.
Sorry for the rant.

The weather is too good to make this a long post, so forgive me if I stop here. Also, I have difficulty controlling my anger as this protest is *still* going on and I am distracted by the discussion I kicked off with my tweet on the matter and the garda helicopter circling overhead. Thank you to all of you readers here who also chimed in on Twitter. There were so many spot-on replies by you, as well as some laugh-out-loud rebuttals to the covidiots who came back at me.

My block list has never been so big 😂. In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have used the hashtag. Too many trolls. But the likes also keep coming, even this morning. I think I am at 574 likes now, way more than the trolls, so that is encouraging.
It’s such a pleasure to have the son back at home for a while. The talking continued until the early hours…

Those idiots are protesting in Italy too. They want to do whatever they want without doing any sacrifice to defeat this virus. It’s also their fault if people keep getting ill. You can still have fun and enjoy life even being careful, but no, they can only whine and say that this is a dictatorship. I’m just so glad that I am fully vaccinated now so at least I can feel a little safer.
But I still feel mad at those selfish idiots. It’s scary to see what they believe, they can be really dangerous.

Up until now the anti-vaxx contingent were relatively few here in Ireland. The argument has heated up because of the reopening of indoor-dining from tomorrow. (Pubs and restaurants have been closed for indoor hospitality since Christmas, so it has been a long time, admittedly.) The rules are that only vaxxed people can dine indoors, and the argument of the anti-vaxxers is that that constitutes discrimination. Covidiots indeed. It’s like you say – it’s the summer, for flip’s sake, outdoor dining has no restrictions and you can meet up with friends and family outdoors, so there are no freedoms taken away – you just have to adjust, that’s all. But well, there is no arguing with people like that. The problem with it all is that the right-wing factions are instrumentalising the pandemic for their purposes. It’s deeply worrying.

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned that I covered the address and customs declarations (4 separate forms – thank you, Brexit) with a postcard. They are not part of the contents.

The Covid-deniers are just prolonging the pandemic and therefore curtailing our freedoms. I wonder how many of them have caught the virus and how they react afterwards. Yes the right-wing indoctrination is terrifying. There are rational people who have different theories about the virus, and whether we should be in lockdown, but it seems that with many of them denying the virus also means accepting the whole shebang of conspiracy theories. Time would be better spent protesting about climate change.

That was my thought, too – wondering how many people would come down with Covid after this ludicrous protest. The truth is, these protests are whipped up by right-wing groups who are trying to instrumentalise the growing frustration for their own purposes. Deeply worrying!

Covidiots were protesting in The Netherlands as well. When they started interviewing protestors I switched channels, I just couldn’t stomach their idiocy and self-centerdness. I think the protestors are fighting for selfishness,not freedom. If they really were fighting for freedom, they’d do anything to beat this virus so we can all move around freely again. So sorry you have to deal with the covidiots on Twitter.
Re. package – is that a DVD/CD I see?

Yeah, I have limited my exposure to any reporting on the protests, too. It is just so frustrating, so depressing, and it also makes me so angry. It’s pure selfishness, and anti-social behaviour.
The package – sorry, hehe, I didn’t explain that I had placed a postcard in the shape of an old camera on top of the parcel – to obscure my address. So, no, not a DVD…

Sonja, es tut mir Leid, dass diese Leute Dir den Samstagnachmittag verdorben haben. Sich diese Parolen anhören müssen, hätte auch eine(n) Heilige(n) auf die Palme gebracht. Solche Leute sind jetzt leider überall zu finden. Es ist erschreckend, dass es so viele sind und dass sie so selbstsüchtig sind, von dem Inhalt ihrer Transparentparolen ganz zu schweigen. Am Schlimmsten ist wohl, dass sich so viele nicht impfen lassen, als ob es ihnen egal wäre, dass dadurch vielleicht andere krank werden oder sogar das Leben verlieren werden. Wenn wir solidarisch dabei wären, könnten wir doch dem Virus ein Ende bereiten und unsere echte Freiheit wieder erlangen. Es war schon eine gute Ablenkung, sich das Foto der Überbepackung auf der Suche nach Hinweisen anzusehen. Allerding habe ich nur Hinweise auf die Größe des Päckchens finden können und darauf, dass es noch Jemanden außer meinem Partner gibt, der die Kanten und Ecken von Päckchen mit dem Klebeband sichert 😉. So bleibe ich weiterhin bei meinem ursprünglichen Vorschlag (der Sonnenbrille) für den Inhalt des Päckchens, weil er von der Größe aus auch paßt und mir auch gefällt 😊. Einen gelungenen Sonntagabend mit Deinem Sohn wünsche ich Dir

Das ist genau das – die fehlende Solidarität macht mich einfach so wütend. Nur auf den eigenen Vorteil bedacht sein und einfach billigend in Kauf nehmen, dass doch ein paar Tausend Leute, deren Immunsystem nicht alleine mit dem Virus klar kommt, dabei zum Opfer fallen. Unglaublich, dass wir schon wieder an so einem Punkt in unseren Gesellschaften angekommen sind.
Richards Paket ist in der Tat eine wunderbare Ablenkung. Wenn ich daran denke, bekomme ich sofort Herzflattern ❤️. Allein schon, dass er sich mit der Verpackung so viel Mühe gemacht hat. (Es sei denn, das war seine Assistentin?)

Man sieht schon an der Idee bei der Wahl der Verpackung und der Sorgfältigkeit, dass sich jemand viel Mühe gegeben hat. Da dabei viel Geduld und Sorgfalt erforderllich war, ist es evident, dass dies nur Richard persönlich sein konnte 😊, weil er bei allem, was er macht mit dem Herzen ist. Das Herzflattern ist also völlig nachvollziehbar. Die Mykita-Sonnenbrillen sehen wirklich gut aus. Aber was auch immer in dem Päckchen ist (eine Sonnenbrille, ein Armband, eine Armbanduhr (das wäre zu teuer), ein Buch (vielleicht das erste Buch von Richard selbst), ein Audiobook oder eine DVD mit einem Autogramm oder ein Autogramm selbst), es ist wunderschön, dass er an die Aktion gedacht hat. Hmm, allerdings muss es etwas sein, was unterwegs nicht zerquetscht werden sollte 😉
Übrigens, wenn ich bei der Aktion irgendwie helfen könnte, sag mir bitte Bescheid. Ich habe nur kein Facebook und Twitter (da kann ich also nicht mithelfen; es ist schon schön, dass ich hier überhaupt dabei sein kann, was bei den anderen Aktionen deswegen nicht der Fall ist).

Ich denke, dass er auf jeden Fall die Mr Porter Schachtel selbst ausgesucht und verpackt hat. Wahrscheinlich auch der äußere Karton, in dem die Porter-Box und der beiliegende Brief waren. Sah man auf meinem Foto nicht, aber das ist ein Karton von Axel Arigato – Designerschuhe für Damen und Herren… und Schuhe sind ja bei RA immer was Besonderes 😉. War alles extremst gut verpackt, kann ich nur sagen. Beim endgültigen Reveal werdet ihr das sehen.
Und du hilfst bereits jetzt, indem du bei der Aktion mitkommentierst und Anteil nimmst. Bei der eigentlichen Organisation muss ich alleine ran 😉 – weil das ja immer über (m)ein eBay und Etsy Konto läuft. Aber das ist alles ok – das ist mein Beitrag und macht mir Spaß 🙂. Und dann kann jeder bei dem Fundraiser mithelfen, indem mitgeboten oder ein Teilchen gekauft wird 😌.

Deine Beschreibung des Päckchen ist so perfekt, dass man sich fühlt, als ob man das Päckchen selbst in den Händen gehalten hat 😊 Sie beweist auch, dass die Theorie, dass Richard es (den äußeren Karton eingeschlossen) selbst verpackt hat, wasserdicht ist. Gleichzeitig hast Du mir wohl die Frage beantwortet, was das für schicke Sneaker sind, die er manchmal anhat, wenn er unterwegs ist 😉. Ich fand es auch sehr schön, dass Richard den an Dich gerichteten Brief der Schachtel beigelegt hat.
Ich habe auch vor, bei dem Fundraiser mitzubieten. Bei Richards Schachtel werde ich da wohl nicht lange mithalten können (ich muss mal sehen, wieviel Ersparnisse ich habe, die ich ausgeben kann; das machen aber jetzt alle, soweit ich das gesehen habe 😉), aber die anderen Sachen waren im letzten Jahr auch sehr schön. Bis dahin versuche ich noch nach ein paar interessanten Ideen für den 50. Geburtstag meines Partners am 10. August zu suchen und sie in die Tat umzusetzen, obwohl ich handwerklich und organisatorisch nicht so begabt bin wie Du.

Hehe, Graza, check den neuesten Post, da hab ich ein Foto von besagten Sneakern eingebaut. Ob die wohl in *diesem* Paket kamen? (Wahrscheinlich nicht, denn das Foto ist schon 5 Jahre alt oder so. So lange bewahrt kein Mensch einen Karton auf.)
Und ich kann dir nur zureden, dich basteltechnisch zu versuchen und auszutoben. 50. Geburtstag ist ja auch etwas, das mit etwas Selbstgemachtem besonders nett gewürdigt ist. Und wer handwerklich nicht so stark in der Übung ist, beachte diesen Tipp: Es gibt für alles ein Video auf Youtube. Ich gucke da auch ganz oft nach…

5. Seville Communion – Oh my Goooooood sounds fabulous for him bring it on! Has anyone investigated whether the author is a secret fanboy? I just looked at the list of his books on Amazon, and there’s one cover with a character who looks like he could be Porter and another who looks like Raymond. Coincidence?

The author sounded very enthusiastic indeed. I haven’t looked at any of his other stuff… I have to confess that I was not huuuugely taken with the Seville Communion. It was alright, but not outstanding. But the film could be quite different.

Saw the box and realised the post Brexit pain it must have been to send too, lovely desire and deed all the more… I can’t even with these protesting people 🙄 the new health minister here said we shouldn’t cower in front of the virus… 😒 there are no word.

Danke dir, liebe Graza 😘. Er war die erste Nacht in einem Einzelzimmer, aber noch in der Notaufnahme, bis sie ihm dann heute ein Bett auf einer Station geben konnten. Heute wollen sie wohl einen Schlaftest mit ihm machen. Ich bin froh, dass er da nun in professionellen Händen ist. Das erleichtert mich schon mal.

Es ist wirklich eine Erleichterung, dass Dein Mann nun in professionellen Händen ist und dass die Diagnostik jetzt durchgeführt wird, damit ihm medizinisch bestens geholfen werden kann und er bald wieder gesund wird. Versuch auch selbst sich mindenstens ein bißchen zu erholen und zu schlafen, auch wenn das sicher nicht leicht ist.
