It’s the last week of September and it’s 20 degrees outside today! Even yesterday evening it was mild and calm, and after dropping Little Miss Guylty at a friend’s house, the mister and I drove down to Bray promenade for a bagga chips. The sea was so calm, there was not even the slightest breeze. It was lovely.
In the afternoon, I took my minibook Ulysses pin to my volunteering job.
It is still very quiet in the museum these days. I had a couple of nice interactions with visitors and with the guides in the museum but also lots of time to continue reading my book. In a month’s time, things may get a bit busier, though, when Ireland will lift the last of the Covid restrictions. Over 90% of all adults (from the age of 16 actually) in Ireland are now fully vaccinated. (The vaccination rate of *all* population (= including children) is 76,7%.) So from October 22nd social distancing and mask wearing will not be mandatory anymore. Nonetheless, we still have 1000+ new Covid cases every day, as well as two-figure deaths per week. I don’t feel 100% safe yet. But I choose hope and look forward to better times, soon.
Here’s our weekly distraction in the shape of the tumblr round-up:
- Astrovian has bought the Andy Gotts book and shows us which portrait of Richard is in the book
- Passing on this information re. My Zoe by richardarmitagefanpage because I misunderstood Richard’s tweet. When he said it was “coming to Amazon” I thought he meant Amazon’s streaming service Prime. But actually it looks more like the film will be available as DVD
- Astrovian is manufacturing ways of seeing Richard in her daily work
- Riepu10 spoils us with a collection of gifs that archive the topless look for posterity. *coughs* Just in case RA goes through with his “no tops off past the age of 50” threat. You might need a shower!
- Never not reblog riepu10’s “Armitage through the years” collage!
- I love the “anachronism” of these bts shots of Thorin, posted by thewarriorandtheking
- LOL – I had to read this quip by sunnibits twice before I copped on what she meant. Yep, true
- Lexadrake, whose Thorin art work I shared last week (?) has continued working on it and added an art nouveau feel to it. Me like
- *hahaha* I like this dialogue in the What a Guy Wants series by nfcomics
- This Bagginshield convo by brobadil made me laugh
There we are. Have a lovely weekend, you all!
Sonja ❤️
Wow, that’s so good so many in Ireland are vaccinated. Wish more people here would get their shots, even with people dying, it doesn’t seem to make them change their minds and get their shots. 🤦🏻♀️
Still best to play it safe no matter what.
Stay healthy girl!

Thank you, Mimi. Yep, I am playing it safe for the moment. Somehow I find it all too soon to lift restrictions…

I agree, especially with the delta variant of the virus killing people. Think it’s not something we can afford to ignore or be cavalier about.

Especially as new variants keep popping up. I just read something about another mutation of the virus 😞

Oh no!!! Mr. Graza is asking, if the new mutation of the virus has a name or a number? I think, he want to read about it.

I don’t think they had a name for it, or if so, I have forgotten already, sorry.

Wow, your vaccination rate is amazing. Wish people here were as great about it. 😐

Well, it’s a small country. And our health service is not as good as Germany’s, so people understand it is better not to risk contracting Covid…

My Zoe: it’s available to stream in the US on Amazon (rent or buy). The article linked was about recommendations for streaming.

Ah, right. I didn’t click through to the website and only saw “DVD” in the post. Great news for the US then (albeit via Amazon).

Wow, over 90% fully vaccinated adults. Solidary and wise. It’s very impressive. #3 hihi, sneaking RA into powerpoint presentation… ehh, not possible. I wish we could see My Zoe soon. Stay safe and healthy. And have a lovely weekend too.

Ack! Ulysses! That book destroyed my interest in reading any more Joyce. Too bad. I liked The Dubliners.
Fantastic vax rate. Wish ours was as high.

Hehe, disclosure: I never read Ulysses back to back. My time is too precious to use it on something that does not give me pleasure. But yes, Dubliners is much more accessible. As is Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.

Love the little Ulysses book – similarly to Snowyjjo I wish it had been that size when I’d read it! Hope all goes well with the opening up in Ireland.
Great round-up, thanks Guylty.
1) I’m glad Gott’s chose that RA shot for his book, I dislike the gurning ones.
3) Love Astrovian’s little work thrill!
5) Riepu’s collage is quite moving for some reason.
7) That is so true about the emotional suppression in RA’s performance in N&S – so potent.

If you read the whole of Ulysses then you got more done than I did!
God yes, I thought the same re. the picture of RA included in Gotts’ book. Those grimaces he posted on IG are really not very attractive at all.
Emotional suppression is the word! I’d love to rewatch it now (but unfortunately is not on any streaming services anymore *meh*)

I did plough through the whole of Ulysses and hardly comprehended a word of it!
N&S is uploaded on Daily Motion if you are interested.

Oh, thanks for the tip. I’ll have to check that out and see whether I can cast it onto the TV.
