Tease Tease Tease #HoHoHolidayFundRAiser

The fundraiser fun always starts earlier for me than for you – not in terms of preparation. That’s not always fun as such, but a necessary precursor – which I am not complaining about here, btw. No pain, no gain, and I am happily and fully prepared to put in the graft for the results at the end. But in terms of the offers of handmade contributions I receive by e-mail and the many packages that arrive on my doorstep by the donors, crafters and contributors to this ongoing project. Even though the items are not for me, they still cheer me up.

This 👆🏻 is a little glimpse of the goodies that have arrived here since our birthday fundraiser. The images are just an example of the kindness with which you are following the project – by putting together parcels full of love and donations. And actually quite a few gifts for me. Undeserved, but definitely not unappreciated! I am stunned by your generosity, both to me and to the fundraiser. Thank you! Anyway, the reason I am writing about this and posting some pictures, is just because of teaser #1 for the upcoming #HoHoHolidayFundRAiser. You may spot some bits and pieces in the pictures above although, as I said, many of those items were gifts for me – and NO, you are not getting the chocolate. That’s MINE! No further comment from me *evillaugh*

Ok ok. The pictures are not conclusive. Here is another hint.

👈🏻 Yeah, you won’t find that conclusive either. Entirely intentional on my part of course.

That’s a tiny glimpse of my beloved spread sheet. It lists the names of the donors (so that I don’t forget again who to credit the donors) and allows me to keep an overview over the number of items that will be in the auctions.

So here you can already see who has contributed to the December auctions.

And yes, that is the auctions only. There is a separate list for the donors and donations of custom/handmade items that will be available in the fixed-price sale, so some names have not popped up in this list yet.

Of course, my screen shot cuts off the item details. Occasionally you may be able to guess what the item in question may pertain to, but for the moment, I will leave you guessing.

However, from the numbering (although starting from 3, not 1) you can see that we will have a massive array of items on offer. As I have tiresomely said before, it’s a longer list than I had planned. But well, I just feel bad turning generous offers of donations away and disappointing fellow fans who would like to contribute. Yes, there will always be another auction, but it feels mean to put people off until later.

There will be DVDs and audio CDs, fan sets, one-off custom-made items, decor items, fan memorabilia, books and more. Many items are pre-loved. And you know what? I actually love that! There are some items in there that may actually have been sold a couple of times in the auctions already – and been re-donated by their respective buyers. And that is, in effect, true sustainable gifting! Rather than buying new, we are actually re-using and re-selling items multiple times. How cool is that?

So, for the moment, this is the list. Who knows, there could be more, or the list might become smaller, depending on the decision to create fan sets with multiple items. But you can already see who contributed to the auctions this time ’round.

My thanks go to Adina, Andrea, Ani, Anne, Ellen, Esther, Fran, Graza, Jane, Jane, Kate, Michele, Mimi, Paula, Poppy, Stacey and Young. Your donations are very welcome and appreciated, and I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and ingenuity in putting together your contributions.

And yes, ok, I promise I will drop some more conclusive hints tomorrow!

And just as a reminder: You will find all the auctions from next Saturday on eBay. You can access them via my eBay page HERE. You’ll get notification that the auctions are live via my blog – where I will post a short summary of all the items with a picture, description and link to each individual auction. Larger and more detailed images of the items as well as further information will be added in the respective eBay listings.

Remember that we send anywhere in the world, even if the listing should say otherwise. (Occasional glitch in the past!)  Please note that the #HoHoHolidayFundRAiser is a private and non-commercial fundraiser. We’re all amateurs here, with no commercial aspirations. The proceeds of the auctions (= revenue minus postage costs, eBay listing fees and transaction fees) will be donated to British hospice care charity LOROS, in lieu of Christmas presents for Richard. The donation will be made after all auctions and the fixed-price sale have ended on December 1st, all items have been paid for, and I have worked out and deducted the fees. I will notify you here on blog once that is done.

HoHoHorrido!

  1. Wow! That’s a lot of goodies 😃 I’m sorry to say that I have a box of bits and pieces for you that is far too late for this fundraiser but with any luck it will be with you in time for the birthday event… 🙄 Things here have been very topsy turvy of late and I’m behind with so many things I should have done 😣

  2. Guylty— Pardon for emailing directly; v new to blog/RA universe. Servitus was v nice and replied to me but I am not proficient w all the social media. I would like to send private msg to you if OK, but do not yet know how. I love your fascinating lessons in photography, and hilarious posts on oofs, woofs, ggg, etc., and Servitus’ posts and discussions. I need people to share this new-found obsession with aside from my friends who agree w the hotness but why this has hit me like this I do not know—but I like it. Watching his work is fascinating, exhilarating, and re-awakening to the ovaries. I like it. Love your Fanvids and I want to participate in Fundraiser and want my own RAPS if I can figure out the Fundraiser and Amazon contributions for purchases link. Thank you for being such creative, witty, insightful, welcoming, and, well, raunchy chicks. Best, Pam

    • Hello Pam – and thank you for your lovely comment. I am happy to know that you are finding the blog (and the back catalog) entertaining. That makes my day. And I so understand what you mean. When I first discovered RA, I really needed a community of like-minded fans, too, to share my enthusiasm with. And that is still something I need today – it‘s just so much more fun (for me) when I can share with other fans…
If you would like to send me a private message, you could e-mail me at guylty@photographer.net ☺️

    • Hello, Pam, and welcome to the club of spending the rest of your life enchanted with one specific British man and trying to figure out: Why him? Why me? Why now? If you ever do find an answer, please share, and put me out of my delighted misery.

  3. Gosh that’s quite a list! I will continue to give kudos to you for dedicating so much of your time to putting the auctions together and with such style 😉
Evey gift you receive is from people who really appreciate you and for making this such a fun event. Just watching the auctions is great fun, participating in it even more so.

Anyway, enjoy your gifts and good luck with all the hard work you still have to do!

        • For the December fundraiser I think it is… Haha, and entirely unplanned. After last years stress I wasn’t going to let it get that big again. But well, on the other hand… Nah, happy to do it.

          • The birthday auctions enthusiasm must have just carried over to this one. 🙂 I sincerely hope this one can happen stress free! If you need help with anything, feel free to reach out…

            • We’ll see. I May have just gotten a spanner thrown in the works. Currently sitting in a&E, waiting for husband to be seen. Really worried about him. Got a cough that causes severe pain.

                • Just talked to him again. He seems to feel a bit better but is still in a separate room in A&E. The A&E doctors said he may have pneumonia. He said they seemed not too worried. But I am. His lungs are very bad, anyway… Well, he’ll be seen by the pulmonary specialists this morning. He was by saying that he might be let out (on his own responsibility) as there won’t be anything done over the weekend, anyway.
I am still preparing to let the fundraiser happen – it’ll be a distraction in any case.

                  • I hope it won’t be too much. Distraction is nice, but the fundraiser is a lot of work too, so may be too much of a good thing. Go with your gut but please don’t feel like you have to do this thing at any cost…

Sounds good that the doctors don’t seem too concerned and I hope he’s good enough to come home over the weekend. Fingers crossed that this is nothing too serious! (((Hugs)))
