We haven’t had a rainy morning here in a long time, but today is rather grey and drizzly. Meh. Perfect time to do the round-up before I venture out and get some grocery shopping done.
It is time for a new round-up header. I went down the edit route this time, throw back to good old Mr Thornton. There’ll be more to see of him at the end of this post. But first – this week’s tumblr offerings.
- In case you haven’t seen it yet, there appears to be a poster out for The Man from Rome. I saw it yesterday on Twitter, posted by Richard Armitage Bulgaria, but I am linking here to riepu10’s post. What do you think? Good poster? Representative of the story?
- An idea by astrovian I can fully get behind. Bonus: That might get even the audio book haters interested…
- Some Thorin hair porn courtesy of lordoftherazzles
- Linasofia’s vampire AU Blood Moon goes to chapter 4
- Ray and Fester say “oof”. I *had to* include that, right? Gif set by riepu10
- Here is a modern AU featuring Thorin by middleearthpixie which I haven’t read yet. This links to chapter 16, but link to the whole fic in the post
- Richardarmitagefanpage reminds us of Richard’s attendance at an event 13 (thirteen! 😱) years ago. I just can’t get over how much he looks like my ex-boyfriend in this (also 😱)
- Astrovian has been reading the source novel for Richard’s upcoming Netflix thriller Damage. This quip of hers made me laugh out loud (and isn’t giving away too much)
- Aw, this is a really sweet What a Guy Wants story for a change 😂. Posted by nfcomics
- Lyledebeast on interpretations of Guy
- Fizzyxcustard’s Lucas North fan fic Covert Eyes is at chapter 10
Lots to read there for you…
And, if you don’t feel like reading, here is another option. I’ve been crafty this week, working on a long-overdue prompt for a couple of themed junk journals. I made a little video flip-through of them, so if you have time to spare, have a look. Challenge: Count how many times I incorporated a pretty picture of you-know-who in the two journals.
In case you are outraged that I *dare* to explain to you who Richard Armitage is… Video was made for my normal junk journal channel – and people there have *no idea* that I am a big fan and who Richard Armitage is.
I’ll be doing more crafting today. I received my 5 items for round 3 of the challenge, organised by Kate. And I already have a plan up my sleeve *witchy cackle*. However, I am waiting for Amazon to arrive with a piece of material that I need for my idea. I might put the camera on and do a little “craft-along” type of video…
In the meantime, have a great weekend, all!
Sonja ❤️
Oh, those journals are stunning. Absolutely brilliant. And it’s always lovely to watch one of your videos. ❤️ Thank you for sharing.

It’s fun to make them, too – both the journals and the videos. Glad you like them. I mean, afterwards you always see so many other possibilities for tucks, tags and pockets, but somehow it is always difficult to decide when to stop 😂

I think they’re amazing and so detailed. Makes me itch to try one and simultaneously think “yeah, I don’t have the patience for that.”

I have to admit that the whole decorating side of things is the hardest thing for me. Partly because of laziness, partly because I find it hard to stop 😂

It’s great to have your blogs back again and the creative juices are flowing. Weather here in the West is wet too, disappointing after such a gorgeous week. Have a lovely weekend.

You too, Deirdre.
I feel like the spring temperatures (although a little too cold for what I would really like) are really reviving all spirits.

#7 Richard looks very good with bow-tie 😊 #9 really good 😂
The journals are beautiful and have so many cute details. Wow, I counted 40 Richard’s pictures (but I probably haven’t noticed all because I was concentrating on the details of the journals.

#7 I am usually not a fan of formal wear, but I make an exception when it comes to Richard 😍
And well done on the count, Graza. I am surprised myself how many pictures I squeezed in there. Hehe, I will add a few more to the Thornton journal, as per request of the recipient.

WOW, thank you for posting the videos of the journals. I have to admit I didn’t know what they were when you did the last flash sale but know I understand much better and they are gorgeous. Your craft is such a work of art I really love it.

Hey, there was just one N missing :-). But hang on, I think I can edit it in…

Hehe, I edited the N and changed the semicolon to an apostrophe 😉

Those journals are great fun – to make and to write in. I only came across the concept four years ago myself, but I was completely taken by it. At the beginning I wasn’t so keen on the vintage look, but now I really like the antique vibe 🙂

The journals are AMAZING!!! I have already watched the whole video three times. The result is so detailed and with good taste. I love the different shapes of paper that you use, the secret pockets and the photos. If I had one, it would have been a masterpiece in my office. I am a person who really likes photos and colours. Thank you so much, Sonja, for sharing this!!!

Thank you Poppy – I am glad you like my journals. The different papers are so much fun, and with RA’s picture, what can go wrong???

Your junk journals are absolute works of art. I can’t imagine how many hours went into creating them. Thanks for revealing a bit of bts action.
#5 Anyone else think Ray drops the “f” from his oof! or otherwise mangles the exclamation, or am I suffering from SC overexposure?!
#6 Now up to ch 20, pixie took us down an unexpected path in Playing With Fire. For a work of fiction, it’s getting pretty real. 😲

I have to admit the journals take a good while to make. Certainly several hours. But it is happy time for me, and I love that it is such a forgiving “art”. There are no mistakes, and you can easily decorate these without being an artist as such.
#5 I think I need to rewatch that scene…

Your journals truly are works of art. I love all the secret places. (You should sneak them into a display at the museum!)
Thanks for a great round-up
1) I’ve not read The Man From Rome but the poster is great – Lucas North joins the clergy. I like the fingers of the cardinal[?] mirroring the gun.

Hehe, I should try and slip a journal into a historic house or such, leaving it on a writing desk somewhere…
Lucas North joins the clergy 😂. Touché – and a better alternative than Spooks season 9!!!

Well, there were some other aspects about him that were not so pretty…

Well, in *my* mind he did. He was thin and tall and had dark hair, much the same style as in these photos. Unfortunately his politics were unspeakable, inacceptable and abominable. Nuff said.

Those journals are gorgeous! (Do I appreciate them more because of the subject??) I absolutely love my Thornton journal from the charity sale! The black and white and the silhouette are just perfect. I’m thinking to use some of the bits and pieces you sent and some other odds and ends to do some more decorating.

Hehe, I am sure the subject makes a little difference 😉. And I am really pleased to hear that you are planning to do some decorating and embellishing in it. That is the biggest fun! Hope we might get to see the results on your blog?

I always enjoy your flip-through videos. You have inspired me to dip my toe in the creative junk journal waters and I’ve started making ephemera. Slowly building up a stash but I’m finding the time that I do spend very relaxing – it’s addictive, especially collaging!

Hooray, another convert!!! It’s great fun making the journals or the ephemera for it. And the best thing is, artistic ability is not necessarily needed. It’s all about personal taste and collaging pretty items. And as you said, it is not only relaxing, but it is just so satisfying to *create* something.

Apropos the new post, kept thinking what it reminds me of in style.. it’s the old Star Wars ones LOL , you know that character pyramid thing in composition. Onto the links this eve with a cuppa xx

Astrov and Thornton are perfect for vintage journals – by default, just because they fit the 19th/early 20th century vibe so well.
You are so right, re. TMFR poster. It has a certain old-fashioned look.
