2023 Armitage Weekly Round-up #20

Hello, hello, hello! Wow, time flies. This week I realised that we are now (less than) two weeks away from the 2023 Birthday Fundraiser! *eeek* Packages have arrived here. I have had several items donated via e-mail that will be sent by the donors themselves. And I am in the midst of creating some fun little things for the fixed-price sale. Just to remind you – we are kicking off the fundraiser on Thursday August 3rd with the eBay auctions, followed by the fixed-price sale over on Etsy from August 6th. More info and teasers to follow, soon.

But today is all round-up day. Here we go.

  1. The promotion of Richard‘s thriller is kicking up in advance of the hard-copy release in October. Riepu10 has got this screenshot of RA reading Geneva in a promo video
  2. Sunnys-day is transfixed by Richard‘s voice. We understand
  3. Richard and books is always nice to behold. Here‘s a scene from Man from Rome, giffed by riepu10
  4. Wow, nice piece of digital painting by youuuuegg. Thorin
  5. Richardarmitagefanpage has giffed the Geneva promo video with Richard
  6. And more gifs from that video, including captions, by riepu10 – thank you for the fan service, P!
  7. *kheeheehee* „elder citizens“ *snorts*. Read the hashtags by dejjablu, too
  8. And here is the „elder citizen“ in younger days, just as a little antidote 😉. RA as Epiphanes, gifs by riepu10

As regards the Geneva promo: In case you have not seen it yet, it comes from a dedicated website for the book, genevathriller.com. There is not only the video with Richard reading an excerpt from his book, but also a fun little memory game that takes inspiration from the „loss of memory“ theme of the thriller. – No expense spared by the publishers Faber & Faber. This weekend, the Crime Writing Festival is on in Harrogate, and F&F have put all kinds of promo in place, from posters at the train station…

… to a stall handing out hot chocolates and coffee to the festival goers.

That‘s a fun and novel idea for a book promo, I have to say. And boy, they are pushing Geneva!!! I don‘t really think that it needs it because the author‘s name alone will attract attention. Or maybe that is what they are worried about, that the big name will actually work *against* the book? As in – he‘s a well-known actor, this is just a vanity project, so not to be taken seriously? Good for Richard!

But check out the custom cups they have made for the hot drinks:

Fun!

Richard is attending the Authors‘ Dinner tonight. I think I have read that some of our fellow fans may be in attendance. I look forward to seeing what they will say…

We‘ll find out later this weekend…

Have a good one,

Sonja ❤️

  1. Thanks for the round-up, Sonja. As usual, plenty to see and this weekend there’s even more than usual with the first images coming in from Harrogate. Rich wasted no time meeting, sharing a drink and taking photos with lucky attendees. Anxious to see the shots that come out of the Murder Mystery dinner he’s hosting this evening.
I have no doubt Geneva can stand on its own without the added pull of a celebrity actor/author, but promotion never hurts and Faber seems to be doing a great job. There’s a missing-letter puzzle on the back of that coffee cup that ought to keep attendees’ minds engaged (in case meeting Rich isn’t enough stimulation!) 😂

    • I love thrillers that keep me guessing, and Geneva had plenty of surprises around every hairpin turn. Well-crafted, relatable tale peppered with personal references RA fans will recognize. Intense, fast-paced performance from Rich and Nicola who were both superb. I can’t wait to get my print copy in Oct and see how the experience compares (to the audiobook).

  2. Thanks for the round-up Guylty. Love Richard’s pinstripe suit at Harrogate, wish I’d could have been there and it would be great to hear about the dinner- was he a good host I wonder?
