#IAmUrban Goes iTunes – and Richard aims for the West End in Early 2025

Finally one of Richard‘s works is available for everyone! As producer Matthew Mitchell told us last year, I am Urban has made it to streaming. I have already located the film on iTunes where you can rent or buy it. I think it is also available on YouTube Movies and the Google Play store. So hopefully access is now for everyone.

On the occasion of Urban going to streaming, Richard was interviewed on BBC 5 radio today. I say „interviewed“, but it was really a very nice conversation between Richard and presenter Nihal Arthanayake. It‘s not just a 5-minute-shorty but an actual 20 minute chat with lots of interesting questions asked, beyond the film, delving into Richard‘s career choices and way of working.

In it, Richard confirms that he is going to be back on stage in the West End. Well, you *may* start saving money for that costly London trip now, but it is still some time until then – early 2025. Also, it appears that Richard is returning to an unnamed, major streaming platform for a piece that starts filming soon. Unannounced, but well, interesting…

Streaming king Richard goes for „sexy six“…

Anyway, I recommend the interview. You can listen to it here, fast forward to about 14.04m!

(Wow – has this really been my first post in 2024? I have really been a lazy bum. Well, school has been full-on, and the next assignments are only a couple of weeks away. It‘s still fun, though, and I don‘t regret signing up for it.)

  1. Loved the way he spoke so openly about his Dad. He certainly is comfortable chatting with Nihal Arthanayake. I guess once you’ve talked about your buttocks no topic is off the table. 😂

  2. I was happy to see your name in my inbox, dear Sonja! Missed you ❤️ Really exciting news about Richard’s upcoming projects. Something worth waiting for 🤞🏻
    Love the edit, btw 😉

  3. Great news indeed. I like Richard’s interviews with Nihal and also have the impression that this is a conversation, not an interview, and that he really listens to the interlocutor. I can’t wait to this trip to the theater 😊
Olga is right, your edit is an eye catch. Missed you too. Yes, this is really your first post this year, but you are not lazy, just very busy. You and Richard both keep saying that you are lazy, and I would like to be half as hard-working as you. When will you graduate from this school, in May or June?
😉 It would be nice, if we could celebrate together in the summer and it would fit, assuming I can survive the introvert’s big celebratory nightmare scheduled for late May (I will never ever again even smile slightly of things that seem a bit old-fashioned and a little strange nowadays, I will get my lesson😂). This visit to the theater is so late in 2025 that summer would be great to meet, wouldn’t it.

      • Sorry for answering late. No specific dates or travel plans have been set yet. Only checked the connections and prices for a travel to the *Emerald Isle*, and apart from the flight time which is a little longer than I thought (over 3h), it looks quite good. I was just wondering, if I were there in summer, would you be willing to be invited for a pint of Guinness to celebrate 😊
😊 Btw are you planning to create a traditional RAPS for Patrick’s Day this year, or are you simply too busy with the school this year?

        • Hehe, recently I am so late with blog replies myself, that I can hardly scold anyone for replying late, Graza!
I am definitely on for a pint (or a cuppa) whenever you are here. I know that I will be here most of the summer, as my course is on until the end of September. I have one week off at the beginning of June where I might be travelling but otherwise will be here.
Ha, I had not thought about the traditional Paddy‘s Day RAPS at all, but now that you have reminded me, the thinking cap is on!!!

  4. That really was such a fantastic interview! Loved how Richard said he still checks in on Fraser Kelly and asks how he’s doing. Just sad that the film isn’t accessible in the US even with a VPN 🙁 I hope it’s made available here soon

  5. Good news! I missed you and your round up. I was a little bit worried. In any case I will start to save money for the theater trip hopefully with no appearance of any obstacle like a new virus etc

    • Sorry to worry you. Everything is ok here – I am just distracted by my course, which takes up a lot of my time. And then I also often feel too lazy to actually write on my blog – it‘s easier to wind down by simply just consuming content elsewhere 😉
Yep, the virus was my first thought, too…

      • I actually got a private message from the social media person behind the film handle to say they were working on expanding the VOD presence in Europe, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

  6. Thanks for sharing the link! It’s been awhile since he’s done a long, chatty interview like this and it put a big smile on my face. This is the Richard I like. Excited about the new book and the return to the stage.
