And there we have it – the white box from Tuesday’s Valentine’s video contains…

… Richard’s printed debut novel. Here is the whole story as it unfolds:
Well, congratulations, Richard! The novel really looks quite impressive. Richard holds the only available copy – right now. But the book is available for pre-order and will be published in October. I am tempted to buy it because I am curious whether it is significantly different from the audio version.
As for the little clip – I confess I was almost more taken with the cosy Norwegian-style jumper than the book 😊. But I liked the little story that Richard came up with. With the tense music and the slow opening of the box, is anyone else reminded of my The Jacket™️ opening video from year before last? 😂 Anyway, I do hope that Toblerone “sponsored this portion of the video”, as my favourite Youtubers always put it.

If not, they are missing a treat. Or a trick.
ETA: Zedeffeye posted the link to the pre-order site in the comments. You can pre-order the *signed* (!) hardback already, and I have checked, they ship internationally. The book costs GBP 16.99. Shipping to Ireland (and EU-wide, I presume) is an additional GBP 9, so GBP 25.99 in total. International delivery to Canada for instance is GBP 12.50. Here is the link to Waterstones.
So, what about you? Have you listened to the audio book yet? Any plans of buying the book?
The Waterstone link is for the ‘Signed Edition’ which they’re offering for the same price as an ‘ordinary’ unsigned edition – £16.99 in the UK + postage which is £3.99 for UK mainland first class. Well done to you for Richard’s nod to your reveal video! 👏🙌❤️ https://www.waterstones.com/book/geneva/richard-armitage/9780571384877

Oh, that’s great info, Zed. I’ll update my post with it so that it doesn’t get lost in the comments!
Hehe, not sure whether RA really nodded to my reveal video. It may just be a case of “great minds…” 😉😂

Sure! Yes, please put the Waterstones link in! 🤩🥳 Only joshing re the reveal! 😘

And now a US publisher on board, so easier to order from Pegasus for the US market?

Definitely easier for US readers to get the book then. Great start to Richard’s career as an author!

This is what we want to hear. I count on your influence on the man.
The book-signing should be done in Geneva as well. Could be a classy event. I will give you the address of my preferred Fnac store.

Actually, the official book tour is going to finish in Geneva with a ski trip for all fans, including overnight accommodation in a Swiss chalet.

NF is right, Guiylty, it can’t be a coincidence… 😉. Also, this video is too similar to the one you made (even if your background music was even better). So all the evidence supports our thesis…
Jumper, what jumper? I just noticed it after you wrote about it. Yes, it’s nice. It’s probably already part of the preparations for this book tour with ski trip (great idea, you are planning it very well☺️), that you already knew about and that’s why you noticed the sweater. Yes, it all adds up… 😉 Guilty as charged😅

Hehe, well, if anything, I am delighted that he had the same idea as me re. big reveals 😉. Great minds think alike and all that.
Well, I have to confess that the idea of a ski trip fills me with horror. I am more of a cross-country type skier… 😬. But the sweater… I am in love ❤️. I love Norwegian style sweaters in any case, but this is a Dale of Norway, *the* classic Norwegian outdoor sweater. And he has got a particularly nice one. I am sorely tempted to splash out €160 and be his sweater twin… https://www.outdoorsports24.com/dale-of-norway-m-myking-sweater

Ha! Eagle eyes! Well done, Lou. That’s great. (And I have to say I always love it when I see RA re-using his clothes. That’s sensible – and sustainable!)

😊 Oh I’m sure that for people who had skis on their feets only once in their live (like me) you planned for this ski trip a part with sleds pulled by horses or a cross-country type skier tour. Please reserve for us in advance a place in the sled with the best cast of participants (I’m sure you know what, or more precisely who, I mean) 😉
You would look great as his sweater twin in this very nice sweater. And this jumper will always be fashionable and would probably be worn often because i‘s also practical, which will probably give a good price-to-service ratio eventually. So don’t hesitate too long because the sale will be over. I like these sweaters too, but unfortunately they are almost always made of wool and not cotton, and even the slightest bit of wool gives me a very uncomfortable feeling on my skin (not sure like it will feel with this merino wool). Let us know how you look in your new jumper.

I have listened to the book twice and it was as great a run through the second time as it was the first. I too would like to own the book but I am in Canada and it seems to take forever for his stuff to be available. But I live in hope…

I’ve only listened once, but maybe I’ll put it on again when crafting.
I just checked a pre-order link that Zedeffeye had posted here in the comments, and it looks as if it can be pre-ordered from the UK for the same publication date. So, theoretically you could get it that way…

Also available in the States For preorder from Amazon with free shipping though probably not autographed.

I’ve just pre-ordered the Kindle edition, which will also be available on 12th October, cost £7.99. It doesn’t get charged to your account until then either. I think I’ll treat myself to a signed hardback as well – I normally only buy Kindle books, audiobooks, or occasionally paperbacks these days, but this is a bit special.

Indeed it is. I’m sure the pre-sales will boost the whole book big time!

Oh, and if people need to save a bit of money and aren’t fussed about having a signed copy, Amazon are doing unsigned hardback copies for £14.99 with free delivery on publication day for the UK and Republic of Ireland. If you pre-order, they will also guarantee you the lowest price that appears on their site for the item between you making the order and the publication date.
I haven’t checked what they are doing in any other country sites.

I checked Amazon 2 hrs ago and didn’t see it listed. I guess the title alone isn’t enough to bring it up. Personally I think it’s worth only $5 extra (incl. shipping) to get the signed copy from the UK. The trade off is a longer wait. But if Pegasus offers the same edition domestically, you can always cancel the Waterstones order. Or, if Rich decides to hold a book signing in NYC, I’ll gladly purchase another copy for him to sign. 😊

Yeah, I was thinking that too. The signed copy would be easily worth it.

I haven’t really made up my mind whether I want to order a signed copy. I *would* like to read the book, but I am stingy about hardback copies 😂. OTOH a signed copy would be cool. Hm. I’ll see.

Great news and great stuff indeed! Still … why put the Matterhorn on the cover prominently rather than Mont Blanc? Because Mont Blanc is too French, not impressive enough or doesn’t look that peaky as a toblerone bar? Questions, questions, questions… Sorry to be cheeky. Who would have thought there’d be a printed Armitage for our bookshelf at any rate? Big congrats to him! He might have to cling to that sweater during his reading tours. 😁

Oh, that is a very good point, Nell. It had not occurred to me, but you are dead right. But then again, neither Matterhorn nor Mont Blanc are that close to Geneva… Hehe, maybe your Toblerone theory is right!
And yes, that sweater is *chefskiss*. (If he’d donate that to a fundraiser, I’d bid on it 😂)

I arge it is not the Right mountain on the cover . Mont Blanc is the most impressive to be seen from Geneva. Seems more logic to me. But it is in France.
I assume Matterhorn is more linked to Switzerland by most people.

Yep, the quintessential Swiss mountain.

Marketing-wise Matterhorn might be the better choice , but I wonder of this is at odds with the authors wish for correct details.
I assume Richard is used to accept this kind of issues in his professional life. Still would be interested how far he was involved in the cover design .

I suspect he didn’t have much say in it. With his usual penchant for getting things right, *and* the fact that he should know the topography of Switzerland thanks to his skiing excursions, he surely would’ve known that the Matterhorn isn’t his location…

I think the black tissue paper is his book’s box is a direct nod to the black leather jacket in G’s box. He’s making a reference/sly joke. To his fans, who will understand it! Does that make the black tissue paper an “easter egg?” We all giggle, and everyone else thinks “yo, this bro’ likes black….”

Richard must be so thrilled to have his book published and it is bound to sell really well. Yes, it really did look like a reference to the Gisborne jacket with the crumpled black tissue paper. I am absolutely appalled though that he is chewing that Toblerone bar with his mouth open- disgusting – and probably making mmoahh, mmoahh noises! (I’m sure it was done for comic effect really).
